Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose Game 1: 4-2

Leafs played well enough to win. They had the much better chances. Hopefully those bounces go their way and they don't get out-goalied.

They need to figure out a way to neutralize the Tkachuck line.

Brodie and Rielly each responsible for goals against !!!

No goals on the 1st two power plays of the game !!!

Nylander is afraid to GO TO THE NET !!! If he does, he could score or draw a penalty !!!

Florida was the better team with one less days rest !!!

Now our Leafs need to win one in Florida !!!

Felt like a regular season plus game for me. I liked the way the Leafs played, the offense they generated, the pace and the occasional big hits from Schenn and McCabe. It didn't seem to have the playoff weight of the Tampa series, the hitting wasn't so bad, random Florida style chaos and mayhem was to be expected.

We definitely got goalied a bit and the 50/50 bounces didn't go our way as they did in the epic comebacks vs Tampa. But process-wise it was okay for a feel out opener, and if they keep playing this way, keep targeting Bob in specific ways (traffic, blocker side, etc.) I like our chances.

Knies was looking great. Amazing first career playoff goal. Should save the tips for the other end of the ice and we'll be good.

Scary to see ROR get the "Sam Bennett" in the last seconds of the game. I like Bennett a lot but you want to be careful around that guy. He's a bit of a rager.

Keep hitting Ekblad like you would Hedman. Montour needs to be slowed up. Keep beating up Tkachuk and no more brain dead stuff like the Brodie impression of Holl on goal 3.

Samsonov needs to shake it off.

We got out played and won games ourselves

We win the next 4 and get to finish them at home

juicy rebounds but we gotta 1st shoot for reounds and 2nd go to the net to bang those in. Marner and Nylander were mostly playing perimeter hockey that ain't gonna fly. Florida was collapsing pretty well in front of bob there leafs gotta go in the dirty areas

He played small tonight. Nearly invisible on the offensive. He has to generate more, period.

That game was gifted to FLA and they took it happily. Tighten up and make them work for it and I would bet we win more often than not.

#1 I'm not asking for Vezina goalie caliber play.

I'm asking for what he did consistently in the regular season that's it.

No it is very VERY f***ing not.

This is the 5th time in 7 games where he's allowed 3+ goals, It's not a defense problem when It's happens almost every night stop being an ass kisser.

I like Samsonov but he's playing like shit right now, and has been for a significant amount of time that's a fact.

Who cares so is EVERYBODY left in the playoffs.

It's time he gets his head out of his ass because right now he's a SLIGHTLY better Campbell in that Samsonov can at least say he didn't choke away a 3-1 series lead.

But regardless of that fact he's a slightly better Campbell right now.

And that's not good enough because I know he can be more because I've seen it.

I agree. .915 goalie turns into an .885 goalie in the payoffs. Not good enough, simple as that.

Well that probably wasn't Florida's best either. Panthers played an OT game 2 nights ago on the road then travelled to a new city. Leafs got an extra day off and were at home

Tkachuk got put on his ass multiple times but still had 3 points. Our guys need to do the same when they are played hard.

Their goalie was better than ours. Otherwise i thought they generally played well. Just wasn’t our night. Move on.
 
Leafs in 5

That's the least stressed I've ever been after a loss, Florida is not a dangerous team. Props to them for capitalizing on our mistakes, but I thought we were the far better team for like 90% of that game. Matthews had countless chances. McCabe made 2 stupid plays that resulted in goals for Florida. We got this.

Do you have a source here? Trying to find it, but last I saw it was 12 mins to 9 mins for the Leafs, and doubt it swung that much.
