Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose Game 1: 4-2

our defence was crap and they had a good goalie and ours was mediocre at best

Probably the 2nd best game they have played so far.

Not really upset. In fact it would be insane to be.

We just witnessed Tampa suffer the same type of defeat.

Posts. Huge saves. Pucks on the goaline.

Those will go ineventually.

Could’ve been better, some bad mistakes & McCabe-Brodie with a rough one… still a decent game where essentially Bob beat Sammy.

Credit to Florida, they made it difficult.

Tough loss, but I still think this is winnable. Matthews could have had two or three easy in the first period.

Defence needs to smarten up, this is not clog the ice hockey, Florida is waiting for our mistakes and making smart break outs. Hopefully Keefe can make the adjustments.

Not too concerned but it could be a tough series. All the expectations are on the Leafs and Florida is riding that Cinderella magic.
Anyway, unlucky game where we could have easily outscored the mistakes we made. Bob is a choker so lets see.

Nylander was the best skater among both teams in the 3rd.

Have to use skater because player goes to Rob-rovsky

Sucks, we really should have won.

34 was really unlucky. Should have had 3 at least. If the series keeps going like this we should be in decent shape.

That being said, we were too loose on D. I would consider taking out Gio. He looks cooked back there.

I am a huge 88 fan. He has been bad all playoffs now. Needs to find another gear. Was good in the 3rd, but overall not been good enough at all.

PP was great, just no finish. 16 ways too fancy on it though, and that needs to be cleaned up.

What I am worried about is

1) Bob looked really good. If he keeps this up...

2) Sammy made some big saves, and has all playoffs. But he lets in a ton of goals.)

3) Tkachuk is a monster. Gotta stop running out line 4 vs. him

Sammy lets in 4 on 2.7 expected goals, continues to be in the negative.

Statistically one of the worst goalies in the entire playoffs (basically only Vasilevskiy was worse).

He makes timely desperation saves but overall he's been really bad.

Any goalie will tell you the 1st and 4th goals can't happen the way they did (1st goal if you are proper square no way the puck goes back door, 4th goal he was so out of control he couldn't even get in decent position to handle a basic low high to a point shot play).

Started on time but got Goalied.

Defense and crashing net more please, should've scored in those PP.

Didn't feel like a playoff game. You get 2 pps within the first 6 minutes you better score. Lots of sloppy plays, overpassing, not going to the net, multiple defensive gaffs, bad rebounds all night, etc. Definitely blew this one.

Honestly. I called the Knies goal minutes before it happened. I chalking this up as a win and getting tourqed.

Kind of a weird game. I thought we played better then 3,4,5 Tkachuck is insane.

If bobbo plays like he did today we will be in tough. The third goal was inexcusably ass defense

Florida was running off adrenaline and I expected a Panthers win tonight.

Overall I’m not that worried, Leafs should still take this serious as the Panthers have zero structure out there. Suits our game.

Bob was dialled in tonight but the guy is pretty erratic from game to game.

Also I’ve seen enough of Giordano. He’s been bad all playoffs but was overshadowed by an even worse Holl. Put Gustafsson in next game.
