Marner‘s agent realized Dubas messed up the team hierarchy and took advantage. You cannot begrudge him for doing it to an apprentice GM.
I got no problem with any player getting overpaid, his agent did his job, but don’t bitch when said player is held accountable for not living up to the overpayment………

Lets knock off this "Bruins are so much better than us muh muh". They been mediocre since their big start. And beating NJ, whose goaltending is worse than ours is not that big a deal.
The Bruin’s have what this team lacks……..heart

Keefe pulls goalies too early and it drives me nuts
Tbh this is one of the few strategies I support. We’re money 6-5.

The issue is we just should not be in this situation anywhere near the frequency we have have been so far this season.

Overrated musician for an overrated team.

Nice fit.
If I was the locker room DJ, I’d put Rush’s working man on permanent repeat, perhaps that would instill some work ethic, or at the very least put them in a bad mood from listening to a cat in a blender over and over……….

I don't have instagram can someone verify? if true, some interesting shit is about to go down

Not only is Keefe a bad coach, but apparently he’s a petty coach too, wish they’d fire his fat ass……….

You would think so, but this is an organization that has won exactly 1 playoff game after the first round going back 20 years and hasn't won a Championship in 56 years. Seems futility is their thing.
This organ doesn’t measure success by how many playoff rounds they win, it measures playoff success by how many jerseys are sold, how much profit was made from concessions, how much can they raise ticket prices……..

Not me. His agents job is to get him the best possible deal.
His agent did his job, it’s 16’s job to live up to the contract………

I don’t see them missing the playoffs as the east is very mediocre and their division even more so.
Coach Keefe……..”hold my beer…….”

I'm not sure what would be worse. Missing the playoffs or losing in round 1.
Missing the playoffs might wake up the MLSE board, that at least the loss of two games of concessions and ticket revenue……….

Why Sammy has to go to post game interviews and Marner’s entitled .ss is hiding in the locker room? At least Sammy has the courage to say that he sucks while alternate captain is nowhere to be seen as usual.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want Sammy anywhere near the net again until he’s 100%, but the guy has to realize he’s accomplished more than 99% more than most goalies could ever achieve, watching that post game interview made it apparent he needs to know there’s more to life than hockey, take a break, get your head right, and for the love of God when Keefe comes calling tell him your not ready………

I think both will lead to Keefe getting fired.
What genius decided he should be extended, that guy’s got to go, paging president Shanahan……..

He was one small problem tonight in a sea of bigger problems, both tonight and throughout the season.

He earns his contract, and yet is disproportionally targeted relative to players that don't, and bigger problems, because people don't like him personally, based on their half-decade old misunderstanding of contract valuation in the NHL that have bred deep-rooted feelings of contempt.
I’m curious what you think are these obvious problems that you keep referring to?

Some prefer to use 88 as an own rental and risk he walks for nothing. Seeing these 4 lose 5 years is a row is not proof enough. Need to see it a couple of more times I guess.
Yup this season and the next, then JT’s off the books and Marner can walk, what’s that give you two years before 34 leaves too?

We now have 10 wins and 10 losses in regulation. Take away 34 and 88 and we are not a playoff team.
That’s what teams do in the playoffs and then people will wonder why 34 doesn’t try in the playoffs, and it won’t be because he doesn’t try, it’s more he doesn’t know play that style of hockey.
If he had to play tough hockey growing up, he’d be the Jays the 3rd basemen.

This, and also the players don’t get paid for playoff games……..

All of Domi, Brodie, and McCabe are more to blame than Marner on the Jarvis goal. I would have liked to see him pick up the developing play a bit faster once McCabe missed the pass, but he wasn't cheating or even really out of position. He was never the furthest Leaf up and never past center ice. Brodie should not be attempting to pinch at the blueline there on the PK once the flubbed pass didn't get down the ice. That's what opened up the 2 on 1.
Brodie reads it correctly. His job is to pressure and leave the rest to his support. His support, McCabe does something similar. Everyone takes a man, but Marners sulking. Jarn is the high man, his role is to be high. It's Marners f*** up. Bad read, bad attitude, bad execution. Just a bad play.

As for the ENG, I'm not sure what you mean by "make a better pass to Nylander". It was directly to him, where Nylander was set up for a quick shot. Nylander pushed up too close to the traffic and then called for the pass. Rielly didn't cover Nylander's decision and moved into a worse lane. He couldn't outlet to Matthews behind the net, because Tavares and a defender were in front of him. Bertuzzi was falling down in front of the net. He could have potentially held onto the puck and dispy doodled around the perimeter to buy time, but then we'd have people complaining about that, and that also has risks in that situation. Also, it's a goalie pulled situation in the final minute. Your creative players are going to need to take risks to try and tie it when the whole team doesn't show up. It's really lazy to just blame Marner for this.
You don't think Marner can make a saucer pass to Willy or a bank pass to Matthews? He couldn't have read time and space closing and controlled himself closing on the net limiting options? Couldn't have pivoted to his backhand or took back ice to create time and space?

These are two primary mistakes leading to goals. Stop them and there's no chance, let alone goal. Nobody else on the ice had that ability or influence, especially when they were both so basic. Don't sulk and stop skating, don't throw the puck away. These aren't high asks.

Domi took a penalty, we kill those often. Brodie steps up, likes he's supposed to. On the ENG he's in full control of the puck, forces a bad pass that's intercepted and that man marches down to score. He has options, but chooses to make the risky play. As you said, risk v. Reward, and he lost. Oddly enough, he looked lost a fair bit

It could all come crumbling down if we cannot add some players like Minten and Cowan. Cap space is great but we need to replace them with players that can play and hopefully play better and make us a better team.

Plus goaltending and defense.

A lot of fans that said regular season means nothing, the playoffs is the only thing that matters are realizing that the regular season IS important because you need to play well in order to make the playoffs. This year they're in a slump and some are concerned that the Leafs will be golfing during the playoffs.

Been saying since the Habs series, Keefe is not a good coach. Fired Keefe and let Guy takes over.
and never play Sammy again
Game 5 of the CBJ series for me.

  1. Nylander to centre
  2. Stacking one line for Torts to only have to worry about when CBJ showed for 4 games they could neutralize M&M
  3. Johnnson into an elimination game after not playing for 6 months

That makes no sense. A player can’t live up to an overpayment if he was it wouldn’t be an overpayment

The same heart that caused them to crumble in the first round last season? Boston recently lost a few games in a row, and their fans said all of the same things that are being said here - no heart, no toughness, etc., etc..
