I don’t blame them for the loss but this thought process doesn’t feel satisfying to me either.
The team lost, everyone is responsible for the team losing and everyone is responsible when the team win.
I just hate the narrative that some players did their part and that’s why they should not be blame….
Top players are brought in to WIN, if they can’t do that, they failed. It is as simple as that.
Maybe scoring 6 goals is great but if the other team got 7, 6 goals ain’t good enough, as it needs to be 8 goals.

We just need to actually start on time next game and get good goaltending and we'll win.

Don't run around like a chicken with it's head cutoff, stop taking stupid penalties and actually play the game like you got a pair.

I have high hopes for a good bounce back revenge game, if they come out flat again its time for big changes everywhere. There's only so much you can blame the GM and coach. On paper this team is sick, we have all the parts to win, the boys just actually have to do their jobs.
This team would be sick on the ice too, if they would just truly believe in themselves! They say all the right things before the series starts, but then go out there and look panic stricken and afraid to make mistakes. If they truly believed in themselves, they wouldn’t do that anymore.

I’ve said it many times… if these guys would just decide they’ve had enough of this and play with some anger and some snarl in their game, they’d be just fine. Just tell each other to screw being afraid to fail again and go out there and take it to the other team!!

This Leafs team, playing with that mentality, would be a freaking nightmare for Tampa and the rest of the playoff teams!!

I saw that “clear video evidence” too. The one thing I asked myself when I saw it was,”Where is the goal line?” You can clearly see the goal line from right to left up to Sammy’s pads and then it somehow disappears where the puck lies.

The puck is still up against the post (where the goal line is), but you can’t see the goal line at all around the puck. That doesn’t make any sense to me.

The only thing I can conclude, is that the goal line was covered in snow at and near the post. The puck “appears” to be completely over the line, yet there’s no line to be seen.

IMHO, that shouldn’t have been called a goal.

The goal line goes from the back of the post across. If part of the puck is leaning on the inside of the post, it cannot be completely over that line. The refs regularly screw up big calls and reviews, I am not sure why this is new to people as if they are infallible? That is hockey and the Leafs were not winning anyway, but that doesn't change this specific play to being legit.

So, in short, no matter how you look at it, there are VERY exciting times coming for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans

Here's the thing though, with this franchise the excitement of new GMs/coaches/Presidents/star player/trades is almost invariably followed very quickly by bitter disappointment.

And if the Leafs do end up losing this series I'm not sure what GM/coach is available, or likely will be this Summer, that I will immediately think "Okay, great, now we're finally on the right path." (Key word there being "available").

As for the players, I'd hope whatever coach is brought in starts off his tenure by stripping the "C" off Tavares as a very strong signal to the roster that they have to be held accountable too, something they have not been up to this point. Beyond that, I'm not sure realistically what moves with this core can be made outside of one of them indicating they're not looking to extend?

But that is a whole other, likely intense conversation on its own if this team loses this series.

Which means he would now have that evidence, as it was passed along to him. And he could pass it on to others requesting it.
And yet he repeatedly refused to provide it, or even explain what he's referring to, and now seems to be acknowledging that there was never any evidence in the first place.

Who passed it to him? Doubt it was ZAR or Holl

I wouldn’t care which ones indicate they are interested in an extension. I would decide which of the core players I would want to keep and move the other(s).

If we could get players that could become our new core and have more grit to their game, we’d be golden, imo.

Surrounding our core with gritty players is great, but having a mentally tough, more physical core, would be the key.

we only gave up 7 goals once this year.
Game 70 vs Islanders. Samsonov was in net.

Agreed. It goes back to the Phil Kessel days when the team was struggling and people let him off the hook because he got his 30 so screw everything else what do you want.

Last night was a failure on two fronts. They weren't a cohesive team and their lead guys weren't real difference makers. They got their PP, got their score effects. Ok, better than nothing. But aren't you supposed to be doing something heroic to match and surpass Gilmour, Clark 1993, put the team on your back?

Overdrive guys hit the nail on the head..... 3rd period effort was even more embarrassing than the result. Where is the fight? Where is the effort? Nobody gave a shit and just mailed it in. Also Tavares pissed me off with his "learning" comment. How long does it take to learn to start on time? This is year what? 6? Be honest at least we just flat out sucked.
Like Steve Dangle said they should have a PhD at this point.

The game has a huge mental component to it and the Leafs completely forgot how to play. I agree with a lot said here ..they looked scared and tentative. That won't win you many games. Hope for a better game 2. And stop screwing with the lineup...you were outcoached Keefe.

Because we have a rigged sport with a Commish determining the victors...just like in soccer/Fifa.

don't agree with the 2nd part. Messi/Argentina won the game on merit

Holl is an F, did absolutely nothing.

Basically looked at Perry on the first goal 2 mins in. Was scared to try to defend.

He was on the ice for 6 goals against, he should be scratched for Liljegren.

holl was worse than "F" for fail. I'd give Holl a "T" for Troll. Trolling Leafs franchise and fanbase

Did Keefe call a review on a goal that was already reviewed?

yup one of the dumbest thing I've ever seen in hockey

Every home team lost last night.

Devils - by 4 goals
Avs - by 2 goals
Golden Knights - by 4 goals
Leafs - by 4 goals

One Canadian team has won a game so far, the Winnipeg Jets. Dubois 2 points and game winner.

Knights almost as unprepared as the Leafs, getting scored on before the game was 2 minutes old.

This is not the right way to analyze information IMO. Just because other's lost leafs losing shouldn't be deemed as ok because others lost.

This is Leafs' 6th yr in the playoffs and without even one series win. Others on that list:

Devils - after rebuild first time in the playoffs
Avs - just won the cup
VGK - have made deep runs in the playoffs

I really don't think pointing to others' failures is alright to justify Leafs' failure. This is not progress. Progress is moving forward not saying "look others suck so I suck too and its ok" is not the right mindset IMO

I still can't get over Holl on the 1st goal of the game though lol Perry slowly gliding around the net, right into Holl's direction...just f***ing hit him and that goal doesn't happen. Instead he just aimlessly waves his stick at Perry as he lets him move to the front. I have actually defended Holl from time to time around here but that straight up can't happen.

NOTHING and I mean NOTHING Pissed me off more than Holl last game especially that 1st goal; how he let perry just take a stroll in the park and then kept getting minutes. He was the D-man with 2nd most TOI last night.

Actually, Keefe pissed me of the most followed by Holl's play.

Whats even more discouraging is that this isn't new or a surprise. Holl cost Leafs gm4, gm6, gm7 last year too; and has been abysmal for majority of the regular season this year and yet the coaching staff puts him out there like he is bobby orr.

I am so angry; if I say stuff that I wanna say I'd probably get infracted

You are basing your opinion on a picture we grabbed off the internet and a line you drew. Perhaps the league has better evidence ?? They have the ability to zoom in but yeah the league does do strange things.

It was a good goal. They showed the video and picture on HNIC during the intermission. Holl was just standing there allowing Perry to once again walk in like a moron.

If people wanna be mad at anything be mad at Holl and then more at Keefe for dressing Holl
