Yup,
I am more upset with our start and overall play then I am the officiating TBH. We cannot control officiating. We can control the way we start the game, and we were terrible. It's so funny, right before puck drop the camera panned to ZAR on the bench and you could see him take 1 deep breath and close his eyes. As someone who is an anxious person myself, that is exactly what I do to ground myself in moments of anxiety. I just had a feeling he was not prepared mentally for that moment, and sure as shit the first time he touches the puck he makes a mistake that leads to a goal.
That is by no means to single out ZAR, he was not alone. The entire team looked and played the same way as him to begin the game. But that needs to change going forward. We cannot wait for game defining moments to occur before we wake up and get into the game. We need to create those game defining moments and dictate play from the drop of the first puck.
Like i said before, It is a long series. We have a lot of hockey left to play. I really strongly dislike when people say things like "we lost home ice". It kind of insinuates that we are further behind in the series then we actually are. The bolts still need to win 3 more games. They are hardly in a position to pop the car into neutral and let the thing run out to the finish line. Plenty of hockey left. Sure, last night was a bit of a speed bump, but we can overcome this no problem.
