Likely for us, we'll burn the tape and pretend nothing happened.

Keefe got outcoached. He would be outcoached way more, but there is a limit to the amount of influence the coach got on a hockey game.


All in all, we have talented figure skaters. It works like a magic during the regular season. The issue starts when you introduce physicality. Every time they got to chose between taking a beating in front of the net, making play and taking a hit, they will choose the less punishing option and it makes them predictable.


Marner got 3 points, yet I feel like this performance made him a 98p player, not 100p.

Marner skates down the middle, what are the odds he is taking it into the crease? Is he shooting?

Not ideal start that’s for sure. Just flat. Tampa had a clean simple game plan and stuck to it leafs looked nervous and tense. Not a fan of the JT-ROR-Willy line pretty slow hard to get zone time when Willy is the only one quick to the puck. Place was rocking felt bad for the fans really deflating after the first. I was lucky I was at game one last season on the other end of that kinda effort guess now I get to see both live. Hopefully it’s a wake up call and they show up Thursday. Can’t win games when you can’t score 5v5

I'm amazed we weren't the team taking over the first period, our team should be chewing on the walls there so keen to make up for there history of playoff failures

Tampa has won cups, made finals yet they still came out and played like they were the desperate team

I can forgive teams that lose because they aren't as talented as there opponents

I think Keefe made a lot of mistakes leading up to the game and in the 1st period. The point of getting ROR was creating a deep forward group that is tough to matchup against....instead we are pulling Matthews off the ice 2 minutes into game 1 running away from a matchup. He should be telling Matthews that he is going to run through whatever player they put in front of him. Especially early.

Won't absolve the core for being scared for the first period. But this is DEF coaching.

Last game of the season Tampa goes goon style and we match it.

This play off GAME 1, Cooper - he has his best players just skate fast and make plays to the net.
Score, score and score.

Cooper does what he wants, and Keefe has us reacting before.

Keefe has us being goons. It worked, 3 of the Bolts are injured. If it stayed that way and we win cause of it. then i will say Keefe... You are a genius.

Of all the things wrong with the franchise, the fumbling of the contract négociations of those 2 are the undoing of this team. They should have never given them contracts at that price if they were only going to carry them to UFA. Nylander got reigned in and the same should have happened to the other 2.

I don’t think Matthews and Marner are getting blank cheques. They just aren’t this time around.

That being said Keefe needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that in these moments Matthews and Marner bring each other down. They need to be separated

Keefe doesn’t learn
Tried to line match-resulted in poor line changes on the go and kept matthews and marner on the bench
For the first five minutes
Tampa clogged the neutral zone and we couldn’t move the puck. Keefe couldn’t come up with a plan just keep icing the puck or lobbing it out to center ice
Loaded the top two lines instead of making three lines with offense . Janrok lafferty kerfoot were non existent. Those three cant drive a line they are complementary players.

The only good thing is keefe dubas will be gone

Coaching strategy was the biggest issue. Tampa had great gap control on breakouts, Leafs still trying their run and gun without thought. Keefe cannot plan a game strategy.
