Because he wears a Maple Leaf on his jersey.......why didn't mccabe get us the instigator powerplay?

Both teams scored on half their PPs. Considering that they had a full 5 minute one and scored twice on it, we were actually better on the PP. The problem was we took more - several of them stupid.View attachment 691508
Alot of penalties benefits Tampa.
Endless stream of overcalls and makeup calls.
Garbage.
Where are the Cronies with the advanced stats?Advanced stats?
Read what I said:
"If the idea is to win a cup, they will have to do much more than the fancy stats.
They will need to play more and play better."
Also:
"One could argue that between the fancy advanced stats and traditional stats, that the following fits under that description:
Total team goals - 3
Total team goals against - 7
Total even strength goals against - 3.
Combined, the 2 players had:
0 goals, 5 assists, 5 points, 7 hits, 4 blocked shots, 4 takeaways, +2, 86% expected goals for at even strength and limiting their direct opposition consisting of the guy who scored 51 goals this season to an expected goals % of 15%.
Could they do better?
Yes.
Were they in any way responsible for losing this game?
Not in the slightest.
"
Please keep up.
At no point did I say they were not good.
I said that if the idea is to win the cup, they will have to play more, contribute more actual production than the advanced stats - thus being better.
You said they weren't good, which is categorically and emphatically wrong.
No chance they give Paul the instigator, leafs and playoffs.Right!?
Subtle turning point of the game.
You hit someone already playing scared, big whoop. (*following it up with) Dropping the gloves for a guaranteed powerplay is gritty playoff hockey, which he didn't do.
Occasionally, stars do win it themselves and that's why they earn big playoff reputations. Isn't that the whole premise of a Big 4 is, that any one or two of them can go off and make a big difference?
Again, you're right the loss isn't on them at all and they played ok, but they need to be special.
Stay on your own board, thanks. They better or its curtains all the pressure is on you guys. Tampa playing with house money right now.
Tampa scored 3 even strength goals.
Nylander was on the ice for 2 of them.
He was better than he's been most of the season, but he wasn't exactly"on" tonight.
1 power play goal, 4 total shots, 0 hits, 0 blocked shots in 16 minutes doesn't exactly scream good playoff game to me in terms of effort.
We have people like Cleetus saying that Matthews and Marner have to be better:
Matthews with 2 assists, 0 goals against, 5 hits, 1 blocked shot, 3 takeaways, 18 minutes played and:
Marner with 3 assists, 0 even strength goals against, 3 shots, 2 hits, 1 blocked shot in 22 minutes with 4:33 penalty kill.
I mean, can those players be better?
Yes.
Did they play poorly?
Not in the slightest.
Agreed, many can...... No big shot hurts.... Gustafsson filled in nicely when Carlson was out for WASH. Sandin did similar but I think GUS is better right now, it will never happen though.Sandin can actually run a PP unlike Rielly.
5 on 5 Corsi: 60% Leafs, 40% Tampa.Where are the Cronies with the advanced stats?
A tear down this season won't solve the biggest problem - JT and his contract.nope. The team will get a tear down this off season. About fuggin time.
The first one he only stepped on the ice after the puck was turned over and already in the Leafs end, and didn't have a chance to get in the play.
The second one he was the forechecker when they made the breakaway pass that split the D.
He was easily the best Leaf.
Hey, we win, we win, F me..... Love it! lol5 on 5 Corsi: 60% Leafs, 40% Tampa.
I think the Leafs could easily beat Tampa if the winner of the game wasn't actual goals scored, but expected goals for.

They played a great second and decent third. And a terrible first. 7-3 is a deserved final score and yet does not reflect the totality of the game. To me, there is plenty to like going in to game 2. Can't afford to give away any more free periods, and I don't expect them to.5 on 5 Corsi: 60% Leafs, 40% Tampa.

If I could laugh and like I would!they're right here in this thread, still spinning outlandish tales to defend their hero
No.
