I don't know what to say anymore. The only happiness I get from this team is the drafting (the only thing we do well)

But every year it's the same.

The crazy part is back in the day the backend was full of good underrated defensive Dmen. Quinn and Burns years. After 2004 our teams have never leaned to draft and build from goal out. Like we have not hit on a proper D in 17 years! I was not around in the 70's and 80's and I know they were hard times, but how the hell have we not built a proper D core?

I don't even know what to say anymore. We just can't play hockey well as currently constructed.

English speaking kid who can't speak without saying "I mean" every few sentences. Why do Frenchman have better control over the English language than English speaking kids do?

oh well.

Pretty much garbage from every player. To many fancy player doing their cowards act again. This team has no nards. They don’t care. So We didn’t need Cory Perry. Anyone can tell why eh, we are way to tough already

It's only two games in, but only 54 to go. I'm trying not to be scared of the sky falling, but why does it seem it doesn't matter what name is on the jersey of my team, they always lack the passion?

Robert's, Sundin, Cujo, last time I saw real passion on the ice on an everyday level, since then we've changed entire teams twice or more and we always have these pathetic lackluster games.

One year I watched most of the pens games a few years back (big Crosby fan) and they were never as inconsistent as my up and down leafs, sure bad game here and there, but I just, I just don't get it.

Technically this team on paper is great, very talented, Simmonds was a great pick up, I still think we need 1 big stay at home D for Morgan, but it shouldn't be this pathetic of an effort.

Anyways, rant over. Go Leafs Go, we'll get em tomorrow hopefully.

The entire organization from Shanny on down really makes it hard to cheer for. Some of the highest paid players in the league and they don’t do shit.
We were told that they would be harder to play against but I call bullshit

The fish smells from the head down. It is early but it is the same old same old story and excuses.

We already WON THE GAME TOMORROWLAND! Because of this! Congratulations GAME 3 tomorrow IS OVER!!! We have the bodies and thugs to do it hard, we will tomorrow, cause its revenge date time. We LOVE IT AND LIVE IT! 2 points is ours tomorrow! Not THEIRS! FOR SURELY NOT THEIRS! I know bout hockey baby!

Biggest takeaway for me is to move Thornton down the line-up... He's still a valuable player, but the only nice plays he makes are when he isn't moving which is not what Marner and Matthews need.

Expecting one of the old guys (Spezza most likely) to be dropped and Robertson or somebody else to get a shot for the b2b.

Rielly-Brodie were bad, but you give time to them as you need them to be your top pair and put in Lehtonen/Sandin for Bogosian despite him being better than last night.

Our top guys were our worst players and I doubt that happens in game 2 of a b2b, but we better come out flying tomorrow or I'll be a lot more worried.

Keefe has been an awful useless coach in the playoffs and to start the season. His lineup decisions are straight up bad and hurting the team.

Andersen has always been bad under pressure, it won't change.

Dubas' salaries and roster construction look just as bad as last season.

Wtf kind of hockey is the team even trying to play? Does anybody know?

We have to be realistic
Andersen is one of the most fragile number one goaltenders in the league
Rielly is a great offensive dman but terrible defensively and has a muffin of a shot
Dubas overpaid in negotiations and it’s showing by not being able to make changes because we have no cap
If you want to say hew overpaid fine, but the reality is he overpaid 1-2 million max on Marner/Matthews/Nylander Nylander's contract is actually great and probably making 1 million under what he's worth. So could Dubas have salvaged a couple million? Sure and I'm not saying that's completely insignificant, but it isn't a huge issue or backbreaking to overpay good players a little.

At least we're not overpaying bad players who are non-factors into our success.

The "effort" tonight reminded me the game against Mr. Zamboni

- This team got no pride; they got paid and they don't care

And nope this is "not" a hot take; this team's effort and compete level is a JOKE for a long time; tonight is not an outlier
You would hope they would see players like Simmonds and Spezza who truly do care and show they do and follow suit, but it isn't looking promising.
