Yes and I am guilty of mistakenly criticizing the wrong personnel most times.

Shanny had a good thing going at one point and messed it all up.

Shanahan for whatever reason hasn't placed a priority on work ethic when hiring people. Seems odd because he was a guy in the trenches himself but he's bought into the skill or go home argument. Thankfully their drafting of late has focused on energy players. However that doesn't help the current roster.

Brodie and Rielly have zero chemistry.

So far the experiment isn't working.

Leafs biggest problems remain the same.

Very weak right side D and no effort backchecking from the top stars.

Moving out Barrie for Brodie is shifting deck chairs on the titanic.

One thing is certain. Dubas can't scout defensemen.

He should play them separately. Also it's not unusual they don't have chemistry this early in a season with shortened training camp, it could come. But beyond that I agree.

Lol one bad game

Yesterday's game showed the same problem as previous years.

The leafs were the more skilled team and completely controlled the first half (almost half) of the game. But once things started to not go their way, they completely fell apart. The team completely gets deflated when faced with adversity. When it becomes clear that it's not going to be easy.

And that's what we saw yesterday. The leafs fell behind after some (arguably) weak goals, and then just mailed it in. No hustle. No effort. No compete. Four shots in the third period.

The argument of "it's only been 2 games" doesn't apply when we're seeing the precise problems that have followed this core around for years and years.

Uninspired hockey is the words I'm using after thinking about their game so far. I think this is why I like a guy like Robertson so much. We need a few try hards that don't have jobs set in stone. If you were a guy like Barabanov who is clearly the only guy that can come out of the lineup wouldn't you be going bananas out there, first man in first man back and hitting everything? Uninspired hockey so far. I need to see way more from these guys.
