*Came in late in the 2nd, so can't comment on the first two Bruin goals. The two Samsonov let in on the glove side in the 3rd were both snipes, I'm not going to hold them against him. The 3rd was simply a tremendous breakdown by the team leaving him out to dry.
*The absence of Matthews exposes, imo, the greatest weakness of the team; they do not have a 3C capable of generating the pressure needed to compete deep into the playoffs. Tavares is an excellent 2C, he does not have the skating ability to go hard 19/20 minutes a night. This is not a slight against him, simply a reality. Kamph/Kerfoot/Holmberg in behind him is simply not good enough. Were it JT injured and AM leading the pack, we might be a bit more competitive, but the results would be the same. Dubas has to address this weakness.
*Liljegren and Sandin had a bad night. That does not erase the good I've seen from them this year.
*Were I listening to a Leaf's game on the radio and I heard the announcer say "Engvall, heading down the left wing...", I could finish his sentence describing the play, what a frustrating player.
The Bruin's goal right after Jarnkrok scored was a backbreaker, good teams score good goals, it happens. However, I did not think the Leafs were dominated. Get Matthews back, upgrade 3C and 2/3 LW - I can live with Jarnkrok at 2LW - and the Leafs become a far more threatening team.
Enjoy the break, folks. GLG!
