How many other team's have had three eleven million dollar players for three years? Rumor was that NHL gms weren't happy with Dubas contracts. Usually where there is some there's fire.

All I'm saying is it's actually Gary Bettman who has created this nonsense system. Sure, introduce a hard cap and a 50/50 profit split. But cap your ticket prices too while you're at it.

Samsanov makes saves on those 3 woofs and it is a different game.

Even the shift where they were hemmed in for 2 minutes, a crappy goal to let in. Makes that save and they escape.

Lots of dumb plays all around:

1st Goal - Morgs was standing around on a Power Play. Bad Goal from Sammy.
2nd Goal - Unable to get a line change led to a tired group. Bad Goal from Sammy.
3rd Goal - Poor pinch attempt from Lilly
Leads to a breakout.
4th Goal - Keefe starts 4-4 with no C to take faceoff leads to loss of possession and goal. Bad goal from Sammy
5th Goal - Sandin and Tavares unable to contain the puck along the boards.

the number and nature of the changes required means that he should probably looking more towards the off season or even the draft rather than the TDL
But in his case he knows that he's pretty much gone if Leafs get bounced in the first round. He's going to be active at the TDL.

I just don't want to see George McPhee level of desperation Erat for Forsberg trades in order to save his ass.

I'm not a huge Sandin fan and not sure where the road leads to with him in the playoffs and longer term future.

He's like a higher end Travis Dermott but for all his hockey IQ and skill level, he doesn't give you consistent defense and the offensive output is poor. He's like the Kerfoot of defensemen.
Maybe we could find a doc to put Sandin's head on Kerfoot's body and have him play the wing. We need to acquire more size, speed and nasty back there in addition to the weaknesses elsewhere.

Samsonov/Murray vs Vasi in round 1

God help us all

One would think Boston might be on cruise mode heading into the all-star break so dominantly ahead in the division.

But nope.. they hate losing, on their worst skid of the year.. and they show up to play hard. They are just on another level. And the Leafs have a lot of learn about that type of mentality.

That being said, feel for Sammy.. Just a bad night after a good first period. Just hope this isn't the start of a slump. He's been good, and bad starts/stretches can happen as long as he can pull himself out of them.

Boston is a professional team Top to Bottom. Every line knows their role and they don’t take a break.

Boston is a truly great team.

And all I'm saying is other players are making due. I'm not gonna praise our players for standing up against Bettman.

Also... Wanted to respond to your post to me in the closed gdt.

You had said, if the leaf teammates don't care about them making 11 million each than we shouldn't either (at least that's what I thought you said, correct me if I'm wrong)

We don't know what their teammates think. Do you think they would say something publically?

Nhl players have been pretty vocal about taking less to win. Mackinnon, Crosby, Marchand, Pastrnak (said he didn't care about leaving money on the table) etc. Obviously this topic is discussed in hockey circles.

If we get goaltending which is a huge if, we can compete and win against the team but we aren't there yet.
Get a forward and I mean an impactful guy. Get Simmonds off this team.
Lilly has shown he can handle tough teams and one bad game doesn't change that. Sandin is a question mark but stick with it.
We are close but still missing a piece.

Yes, those soft goals really make everyone look bad.

But if you can't give up a wrist shot, without a screen from the deep slot then it doesn't matter how good your defense.

Samsonov acknowledged his play on the ice. He stunk on some goals, and he knew it.

Boston just went through a rebuild/retool and they're already better than us again.

Chara, Lucic, Hamilton, Krug, McQuaid, Backes and Tukka Rask all gone.

Fired coach who took them to game 7 of the finals four years ago when they lost in the first round last year.

Some organizations know how to challenge for the cup, some apparently don't.

Maybe he didn't want to damage his new skates.
Who cares though... Hes a nice kid who smiles and dances. Let's complain about the goalie making 2 million and the 4th liners making less than 2 million. Ergh see those giveaways by useless Holl and Kerfoot? Jeez if only Holl and Giraffe would play physical!

Highlights NHL.com -first play is Mitch giving the puck away while playing point. Boston takes it the other way and Marner playing defense leaves a guy wide opens for partial breakaway and samsonov makes desperation save to keep puck out.

First goal against... Mitch marner on the boards with Frederic, Frederick "easily" protects the puck from Marner making a pass and scores. Watch the play Marner doesn't even make an attempt to battle for the puck after he's boxed out. He just stands there with his skate against the boards, body in controller disconnect mode. He definitely doesn't want to strain anything for that upcoming vacation.

That goal was not on Marner. Lol.

That goal was on 44 not covering the slot.

*Came in late in the 2nd, so can't comment on the first two Bruin goals. The two Samsonov let in on the glove side in the 3rd were both snipes, I'm not going to hold them against him. The 3rd was simply a tremendous breakdown by the team leaving him out to dry.
*The absence of Matthews exposes, imo, the greatest weakness of the team; they do not have a 3C capable of generating the pressure needed to compete deep into the playoffs. Tavares is an excellent 2C, he does not have the skating ability to go hard 19/20 minutes a night. This is not a slight against him, simply a reality. Kamph/Kerfoot/Holmberg in behind him is simply not good enough. Were it JT injured and AM leading the pack, we might be a bit more competitive, but the results would be the same. Dubas has to address this weakness.
*Liljegren and Sandin had a bad night. That does not erase the good I've seen from them this year.
*Were I listening to a Leaf's game on the radio and I heard the announcer say "Engvall, heading down the left wing...", I could finish his sentence describing the play, what a frustrating player.

The Bruin's goal right after Jarnkrok scored was a backbreaker, good teams score good goals, it happens. However, I did not think the Leafs were dominated. Get Matthews back, upgrade 3C and 2/3 LW - I can live with Jarnkrok at 2LW - and the Leafs become a far more threatening team.

Enjoy the break, folks. GLG!

There coach might have been more hate by the players than Babs too.

The score was maybe a little worse than it should've been thanks to goaltending, but the Leafs continue to show that they love making huge mistakes at inopportune times to give their opponent free goals. 90% of the game they look like they're right there with Boston as an elite team, but the other 10% is night and day.

There is NO WAY they would go into the break having lost 4 in a row!!!! It's not a Bruins thing to do!!!
