Samsonov was awesome in the first, lost it afterwards.

3 goals he should have had.

Entertaining game.

Leafs were right there except in net.

Samsonov has been very good, but he isn't going to win every game.
Yeah....always a dollar short and a minute late....lets stop making excuses. They are going no where....regardless of trades. Problems start at the top and cascade down through the Mgr, Coach, Cpt & team...
They do not have what it takes.....

Leafs D is too soft; did you see what Boston D was doing? they were taking the body and punishing in the d-zone every chance they got; Leafs D is freakin' charmane soft.

leafs d does with "poke checks"; Bruins players or any opposition player(s) can come in our zone fearless knowing full well he will not have to pay the price.
Muzzin might have been the only D anyone feared. Rielly, and everyone else don't scare anyone.

Mitch was visible
Willie was dangerous
JT didn't even dress
Highlights NHL.com -first play is Mitch giving the puck away while playing point. Boston takes it the other way and Marner playing defense leaves a guy wide opens for partial breakaway and samsonov makes desperation save to keep puck out.

First goal against... Mitch marner on the boards with Frederic, Frederick "easily" protects the puck from Marner making a pass and scores. Watch the play Marner doesn't even make an attempt to battle for the puck after he's boxed out. He just stands there with his skate against the boards, body in controller disconnect mode. He definitely doesn't want to strain anything for that upcoming vacation.

Ullmark had an easy night.
No Leafs in his face, no one crashed the net and they allowed themselves to be cleared out of the way by the Bruin D.
Ullmark is the obvious leader for the Vezina at this point so the game plan should have been to cause some sh!t in front of the net and try to score some greasy goals.

(Except for Simmonds and Bunting)

Lines at Leafs practice

Bunting - Tavares - Marner

Jarnkrok - Kerfoot - Nylander

Engvall - Kampf - Anderson

Aston-Reese - Holmberg - Simmonds

Rielly - Brodie
Giordano - Holl
Sandin - Liljegren
Benn - Timmins

Fairly anemic squad

How’s Muzzin ?

- I don't think Sandin can handle playoff hockey and it showed once again tonight, he got destroyed by Boston's forecheck. To be fair, Liljergen wasn't any better, his worst game of the season by far
- This team needs more scoring prowess, outside of Matthews/Nylander there isn't much to consistently rely on
- Goaltending has some highs but boy does it got some lows. Samsonov was awful in the 2nd/3rd, gave up 3 goals that he should have had. I worry about the mental side of the game for him

I'm not a huge Sandin fan and not sure where the road leads to with him in the playoffs and longer term future.

He's like a higher end Travis Dermott but for all his hockey IQ and skill level, he doesn't give you consistent defense and the offensive output is poor. He's like the Kerfoot of defensemen.

Maybe he didn't want to damage his new skates.

If we get goaltending which is a huge if, we can compete and win against the team but we aren't there yet.
Get a forward and I mean an impactful guy. Get Simmonds off this team.
Lilly has shown he can handle tough teams and one bad game doesn't change that. Sandin is a question mark but stick with it.
We are close but still missing a piece.

It is gangsta for him to say this, but he is leaving tens of millions of real world money on the table to pursue excellence in a kids game so he can one day do shirtless keg stands with his teammates again...

I'm joking of course, Marchand deserves respect for being poorly paid in pursuit of winning. It's criminal that he makes less money in 2023 than Mats Sundin was making in 2000. The real villain here is Gary Bettman who has created some nonsense economy where ticket prices don't seem to match entertainment values and players have to choose between fair pay and on ice excellence. Imagine if Michael Jordan had to choose between winning a championship or getting paid. Pathetic league.
How many other team's have had three eleven million dollar players for three years? Rumor was that NHL gms weren't happy with Dubas contracts. Usually where there is some there's fire.

Remember a couple of trade deadlines ago when Boston picked up Hall and we picked up Foligno?

I'm seeing more and more comments on here about another finisher or top six winger.

Another example of the missmanagement.

I don't think we would actually like Taylor Hall if he was a Leaf though. Check out the stats line, it's pretty dismal. Only thing is he's not really expected to carry that much of the load.

I'd say missing a couple of pieces.

I agree but the playoffs is much different and I love the guy but he always found a way to let a bad goal in when it mattered.

Murray is never healthy.

Goaltending worries me come playoff time.

Goaltending should worry all Leafs fans, going back to Reimer against the Bruins.

Look at the Flames, Vezina candidate last year and fell apart against the Oilers.

Colorado didn't out goaltend the Lightning. They outplayed them, and it didn't matter who was in the Lightning net.
