Give him another year I'd say... but his plan to score more goals was to bring in people who fight and hit, it's a weird strategy.

And his track record is terrible.
He walked into quite the mess. Dubas nuked out goalie situation the moment he took over. Still feeling it as you can see.

Unless Woll goes god mode...we done. Sammy already done

It's probably not a good sign when Ryan Reaves is getting more points than your "star" players in playoff games.

All around I'm just disgusted by how this team has been playing for 2-3 weeks. The goaltending and defence is putrid. Once again some of the highest paid players in the league are no-shows in the playoffs, why am I not surprised? Not to mention Nylander with his mystery injury..... what an absolute disaster.
We still got firsts.
This “core” blows in the playoffs

Samsanov was re-signed, I never understood this argument.

Samsonov was the only player the Leafs ever went through the entire arbitration process with.

That speaks volumes of Tre's confidence in Samsonov. He was right.

Why Woll didn't start the third period to see how he responds might have cost us another game. Now we have to wait for Samsonov to cost us another game and then maybe Woll gets a look.

If Nylander is out, this series is already over. It's not easy to replace a 98 point forward. The only player with close to that many points on Boston is Pastrnak.

My problem with that is it wasn’t even a game to start with. At the very top I saw zero star player contributions, weak goaltending early and often, leaky special teams and disconnected transition game. All the parts you cited weren’t good. But the core of the team is the problem for me.
Can we see the core with a coach who isn't a moron or a headcase before we conclude that there's no way they can win? We've had three years of Babcock f***ing with them and 5 years of Keefe being utterly clueless about everything... Yes, the core has to be better, but it's hard to be better when your coach keeps making braindead decisions that suck the life out of the room...
The PP should have been changed WEEKS ago. Their breakout needs to be changed, too; I'm getting tired of watching defenseman ring the puck around the boards to the other team's forwards because every f***ing team in the league KNOWS they're going to do that. I'm also getting tired of pinches from D-men who should NEVER be pinching...

they will. Kids will learn and get better. Problem though IMHO Keefe is not the kinda coach that will help the young prosper because he cannot game plan or make in game adjustments.

we can't be repeating the same trash we did when matthews, marner and nylander were youngsters learning the art of NHL especially playoff hockey.

This team would be a bit better for next season with experience from the youngsters, a turnaround in roster in the summer with more Treliving type players and hopefully a decent coach
Keefe needs to go. Sometime I think we might be a bit harsh on him as our top guys just choked.
But WTF was Calle doing on PP1 instead of Bert.

It's worth mentioning that if the Leafs intend to upgrade their goaltending, it's not going to be via free agency. The best FA goalie this year is... Ilya Samsonov.

Keefe hates tough hockey, which is bizarre because he was a tough s.o.b in his playing days.
Just a phony progressive that manipulates with emotion. To the point of calling out his own soldiers while at war. LOL

They run the same goddamn play on every PP zone entry.

  1. Enter on the left side
  2. Cross the blueline
  3. Pass to JT on the left wall
  4. Scramble to maintain control because the PK knows EXACTLY that they were going to do it

they kill anywhere from 30 to 50 seconds just trying to get in the offensive zone after their slow ass drop pass. Opposition PK team probably laughs as how DUMB Leafs' PP entries and starts are; and are praying Leafs keep tavares on the PP because he half helps opposition kill Leafs PP

Ok back in lyme now .. gents i think i told everyone jt would not be able to keep up and keefer would not assess it in game .. well it was exactly like i told you guys .. what i didnt realize is our 3rd line would get badly tilted too .. our 1st line played even .. our 4th line helped team .. jt needs moved to 3rd line LW right now .. 1st line was fine but matty needs to get 2 goals per bottom line or we will lose .. holmberg willy and mccann need to play on 2nd line and get 1 goal and keep game close .. 3rd line put all the rejects like mitch jt and jankrok and keep shifts really freakin short short short . But keefer isnt smart enough and or brave enough to figure it out .. maybe team will can keefer between games .. possible .. this is shannys last hoorah folks

The difference in the calibre of goaltending they receive compared to us is absolutely jarring and will be extremely hard to overcome. Then add on the special teams discrepancy and coaching and well this series does seem almost unwinnable.

Tonight could really not have gone much worse.

Yep, exactly what I was afraid of. Keefe's going to pull from this game that playing physical isn't working and he's going to dress a light lineup next game, which Boston is going to run out of the building.
What are the "light" changes you expect?

Yup. Full worst case scenario. Sammy is rattled again and now we have to lean on Woll who hasn't looked great either.

We're in trouble.

The 1st period was okay. Yes the score was 1-0 but Bruins hit the post twice.
Even if AM scored the goal to tie 1-1. I don’t think the boys can pull it off.
As much as I like the Robbie today, that 3rd line was just disjointed. Would hide that line more but Keefe didn’t do that.
Keefe also lost it with Calle being on PP1 instead of Bert or Domi.

No he's not. There's tons of goalies with better than a .890 regular season same percentage this year.

Cam Talbot? Reimer?

We don't need a stud goalie immediately. We need a .900 goalie who can split the net with Woll. When Woll got injured we had to go to Martin Jones because we couldn't trust Samsonov - in what world do you think he's the best UFA goalie? He cleared waivers this year.

How did Dubas nuke our goalie situation? Andersen was the starter for the first two years of Dubas as the GM. He fell apart on his own. Campbell fell apart a short time later, forcing the Leafs to scramble to find a solution (I'm going to ignore Mrazek, because NO ONE predicted he'd have the worst season of his career by far on the Leafs). Murray-Samsonov wasn't a great solution, but we could be New Jersey right now...

He made ZERO in-game adjustments tonight once again. I have never seen him make in-game adjustments every especially in the playoffs.

You are f***ing down 3 goals why in the blue f***ing hell do you think that your "initial plans" are working?

Keefe is an absolutely pathetic coach. From that JOKE of a habs series to tonight's game. He hasn't learned one f***ing thing. NOT ONE THING
