We looked like they looked the last time we played - not quite as good, but no reason to go full drama queen, either.

Might have had a better result with Holmberg and McMann in the lineup; who knows?

My take....... Bruins are beatable. Didn't play well, weak goals against and still in the game.

Side point - Imagine this game without Simmonds. Leafs are run out of the building within 10 minutes.

Simmonds did nothing to slow them down. They are not the Bruins of the past
Fighting Foligno doesn't instill fear into anyone.

Coyle still was hitting people and so was their bottom 6

Series goes 7 again and will be a toss up. Good game. Hard fought. Not much at all between both teams

The same song and dance every single f****** year. Every single time a big moment comes, you know that this team is just going to let you down. It's just the cold, cruel facts of life.

And the Leafs haven't won a playoff round in 20 years.

Cool, not sure either team "knows what it takes to win" anymore.

Unless Murray does, who won 10 years ago

Rielly needs to get his head screwed on right and probably take some extra time with his injury. He's a liability out there and makes his partners worse.

Murray was shaky after the first period and let in a couple of softies that won't cut it in a real playoff game.

Didn't like how Boston could turn on the punching and shoving to try and generate momentum. This is a design feature with Dubas rosters but we are never on the right side of the extra curriculars.
It's not just a problem with Rielly, he's being deployed as a legit #1 dman who can dominate both ends of the ice and he's not a player who can handle that. Leafs were outshot 15-4 at 5v5 with him and he still got played the most of any skater. That's just as much on Keefe

Why?

Given the talent we supposedly have, it's Tampa that should be complaining about playing the Leafs
We have 3 of the 5 highest players in the league

It's us that should be the Alpha team. The standings have nothing to do with it
We lost to Montreal and Columbus. Standings mean nothing to this team

We need some good depth. Simmonds cannot be in this team. Like ever. He brings nothing. That fight against Foligno could have been fought by anybody
Hunt. Nothing there

Steeves and McMann. and get a scoring winger
The playoff format doesn’t bother me. If you are going to win you have to go through this teams anyway.
I just feel a playoff match up shouldn’t be known at this point in the season. Nothing to do with the opponent or having to go through these teams to win but we as fans already knowing the match up in January is stupid. If it was 1 through 8 and highest seed plays the lowest seed it would go up to the last week or two of the season to decide the opponent and that in my opinion is much more exciting as a fan

Murray needed to be better but that was a horrible turnover
3 bad goals. Sure it's just one game. Game 7 is just one game.

Anyways. We hung in there toe to toe. Had we recieved better goaltending, we could have easily one
We dominated the 3rd period

Boston is a very beatable team

Murray made crazy saves to start the game when boston completely dominated the 1st period.

Ullmark also gave up a soft goal (Engvall goal was a softie)

In the end, winners win and losers whine about doing their best. period !

They have gone to the finals twice since?

And lost. Do you think this place would be saying the Leafs knew what it took to win, or not if that were us?

I bet it would be the same group in here saying the same things.

Leafs lost to a good team that they beat earlier in the year. That's all, this isnt some statement moment.

Last goal was on Tavares. Giordano is exhausted and Tavares doesn’t get it out deep. Picked off and the Bruins win.

Lots to learn from, some good physical play, tied it up, but small margins of error will lose you games against good teams. Ullmark probably saved 2 sure goals. Murray probably let in 2 he shouldn’t have.

Was Kerfoot playing? Simmonds was good to take on Foligno , but stumbled into his own player causing an odd man goal.

Timmins tries a cross ice pass on the blue line that works with 95% of the NHL but not Boston.

I liked ZAR and Hunts physical play. Team played well overall and could have gone either way really. Just a few dumb mistakes.

Murray gifted some soft goals. And team wasn’t better either.

But what’s up with Boston players celebrating this like they haven’t won a game in ages? This obviously meant a lot more to Boston this was a big game for them and it was def marked on their calendars.

For Toronto? Not so much.

The Leafs seem to be most comfortable when they play a lower stress game. You'll notice during the long win streaks the wins seem to come easy and the emotional level game to game isn't that high. It's when teams like Boston, Tampa want to take you behind the alley for street fight you'll see Toronto have a tough time matching, exceeding.

It's only one game, it could have gone either way. But that sounds like a lot of our Game 7's too.
