The teams scoring goals and allow very few quality chances against

Team gives up way too many easy chances against imo. I guess we are scoring, but maybe Fred needs the skaters to get him a win to get things going? He owes them no doubt, but if they are not in it together they have no chance... and I am sure they are. Two deflected in off us... which makes me think that Andersen's positioning is off a bit... lately it seems every deflection goes in, which says to me he is not in the right spot... some of them going in, sure, but its really been ALL of them over the past 7 games it seems.

At the same time though, when Rielly and Marner play like that we won't win many games regardless. Amazing to me the gap between their very good and very bad games.

Marner looked like he thought he was the guy who was going to single-handedly carry the team to the win... no need, use what you have around you man. He must have looked off Matthews 5-6 times tonight. Crazy. Sweet shot on the goal though.

It's simple. Get another capable goalie or sell at the deadline.

Whatever top 6 F / 3C we may have been looking to acquire ....that shipped sailed tonight. Bon voyage.

They’ve been picking him up for two seasons. How many times do they have to pick him up?

Why can’t he just do his f***ing job? No more excuses for this loser. His play in on him and him alone.

Never true in a team sport. He has to be better, not arguing that.

"Same goes for our team"

Unbelievable, Fred doesn't have the right to criticize anything about the team after a game they dominated scoring chances

He's always been like this, can't handle being called out always passes some blame.

I'm not going to blame every single goal solely on Andersen, but at some point your goalie needs to make a few clutch saves for you and Freddie more games than not isn't doing that.

Markstrom let in 3 goals, but when the Flames needed it the most he made a few very nice saves down the stretch to preserve the lead and help get his team the win. Andersen is rarely if ever able to do that for the Leafs and its why we need to move on from him ASAP. I know Dubas won't do it, but I wish we could trade him before the deadline for anything we could get for him.
Hey Fred stopped the 2 shots he faced in the entire 3rd period and we still lost. Held Calgary to 2 shots and we still lost. its just bizarre.

Pretty much we need to make sure Andersen never plays another game unless absolutely necessary.

4 goals on 18 shots is inexcusable, especially given the lack of quality of them.

We have a top 5 team with a bottom 5 goalie who needs a 5 goal performance just to squeak out a win.

At least he improved from 3 goals in the first 7 shots.

Yeah bad take man. This team has outplayed the other team, but sure lets blame the character.
The team has more then did their part, but if you think somehow the team is at fault, well then thats bad evaluation.

Sometimes you have to win a game you are not supposed to. Seems to happen to us a LOT. When do we do it? Have we done it this season? I cannot remember one.

Flying around getting chances, and looking good is not what it takes. Its finding a way to win, at all costs, even when your goalie is shit.

They played hard tonight in general, but good efforts count for shit in the pros if you cannot get a win here and there.

Freddy save% has been .857 over the last 7 games. No team is overcoming that

You have to find a way.

Andy has to be considerably better. No one could deny that. But in a team sport, losses go against the team not one player, as much as we all like to think from time to time.

They've been bailing out their crap goalie all year long.

Honestly, teams are scoring 1-2 extra goals a night from non scoring chances. That's not giving up a lot at all

Teams protect the house and the few jam plays we have aren't smart decisions, like the one we saw from Matthews today.

Even with those 3 not being their best, we're still heavily controlling games. That's not "very flawed" IMO, even if I do understand (and share) your frustration.

Honestly, I'm disappointed in the result and see so much low hanging fruit specifically on those 3 to elevate their play, but we're still outplaying teams on a nightly basis.

On a side note I'd go Marner with Tavares for a bit. Let them work out some kinks together

The past few games have been purely Andersen meltdowns, so it's hard to even be truly upset at any of the position players because their efforts have frankly been wasted. But I would like to see them just play a simpler, more urgent, crisply executed offensive game that isn't a skills competition.

I would also try Marner and Tavares, the Big 4 should be mixed and matched depending on situations.
