Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3

What worries me is that this team has been gutted from the original year of Babcock's reign, we have been filling in the holes with band-aid solutions and in a shortened year that is tough to do.

lol... they credited Tavares with that last goal? I had no idea until I saw it was given to him on NHL.com. He, Hyman and Nylander were all right there. I wish Zach had completed the hattrick instead.

4 of the last 6 games all boil down to below average goal tending imo. The last 2 were shithouse.

They look tired to me. Other teams will start to struggle with this seasons schedule surely.

No, this doesn’t go on Babcock. Keefe and dubas have their guys, we got our partner for Rielly, we have our bottom 6 like they want it. We have holl and Hyman which were keefe and dubas’s favourite players.
Andersen wasn’t just Babcock, he was an Asset from Lou. They had the whole offseason to get another goalie and trade Andersen, but they didn’t. Last year can be blamed(partly) on Babcock, this year; none of it is

Can't wait for a trade to shake things up.

Anderson in a package for a cheaper, better option would be nice...
A top 6 left win with some of that money saved by shipping out Anderson would help a lot as well...

This team isn't playing well right now, but it also needs a shot in the arm in terms of talent to fill out the top 6. Thornton and Kerfoot is not good enough in your top 6. Keep Hyman up where he belongs and add another winger.

It's a slump at the end of the day, every good team goes through one. 5 days off to regroup and I'm getting we'll be back to great. I'm choosing not to get all worked up over it this time.

The Good: The comedy here is improving, even in the PGT's. Some of you guys bring angst to a whole new level. Freddie didn't look spectacular but I can live with a .929, I still think there's something that's bothering him either mentally or physically. Whatever it is he has to get over it, now! Buster is in full beast mode, the Leafs need a few more guys to to put out like he does. Hopefully the week off allows Matty's wrist to get back to 100%. and the rest of the boys get their battery's re-charged. Although it was the first time I ever saw it the he pic I posted of Tessa was magnificent, at least for us straight guys:cool:

The Bad: please please no more close ups of Brady T which brings us to

The Ugly: Don't have a clue what they were doing in the second and those fire drills that were supposed to pass as offense. Goal #1. Goal #2. Neither should have happened. I'm 67 and I'm pretty sure I could've stopped the second and would have at least got a piece of the 1st, both goals went clean in. Send Hutchinson down because what happened tonight can never ever happen again. Bring Woll up and hope Soupy gets healthy by Tuesday so he can have some net time before they start him on Fri. Complete rest for Fredlight and maybe some hypnosis and meditation.

Could some of it be solved internally? Like giving Robertson another shot. Maybe even Galchenyuk who might be decent for us. Maybe give Liljegren some games. We should’ve used the cushion we created earlier to experiment with what we have, but instead we continued paying older, tired players, hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite us

Brutal loss, but nothing gives me more hope than what Keefe was up to at the end of the game.

- Pulls the goalie with 6 minutes left down 3.
- Plays 4 F, 1 D off the faceoff to prep for another pull
- Puts Andersen back in MID SHIFT when the Kerfoot line was out there
- Pulls him when the big boys are rested

Galaxy brain stuff.

The announcers were perplexed but it was obvious what Keefe's thinking was. Why pull the goalie so that a guy like Engvall or another 4th liner can join in on the play? Might as well put Freddie back in, but I do never recall seeing that haha.

Majority of the first 50 minutes were awful though. Hutch let in 2 stinkers, Leafs treated the puck like a hand grenade in the d-zone, and couldnt maintain pressure in the o-zone.

4 day break couldnt come at a better time. I wouldnt be shocked if Campbell starts our next game if hes healthy and that in itself would be a pretty big statement for Freddie.

Ive been a big Andersen fan, but hes played himself out of the atarter role at this point. Time to see if Campbell can take over.

I've been pushing this idea for the better part of a decade, so glad to finally see someone try it, and so glad it worked!

Hope you are right. And I wish I had your patience and calmness. I just see a lot of things that make me not feel overly confident. Guess we'll see how things look come Friday.

Aside from goaltending our bottom 6 really blew this one, in a terrible game our top 6 all come out +2 or better. Boyd has been terrible, Vesey is still just....there, Spezz has no support

This is where I don't understand the purpose of the taxi squad. Call Robertson up, bring Sabourn in. This in and out of the lineup methodology was working well for this team early on. It keeps players fresh and maintains competitiveness.

They had two excellent games against the Jets, and I will always measure this team based on playoff success. They need to keep it competitive and consistently replicate a playoff like atmosphere.

Fred needs to go see Bob Hartley
Oh and your still a young-en

All those turnovers, unforced errors, sloppy play, they didn't regress into the Leafs of seasons past over this last week, at least not so many players at once. This looks like a team that's run down, and apparently they traveled on a game day today? That didn't help.

A 4-day break until they play again should recharge them. If they come out Friday/Saturday against the Flames and are back to their early-season selves, then they should be back on track. If they look like they did this weekend, yeah, that's trouble.

Btw, they finish the season with 5 games in 8 days. That kind of has me worried if they aren't in a position down the stretch to rest at least of few of the stars. That load management thing.
