Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose 4-3 OT in game 5

His fans think thats him trying hard.

last game I called out Marner for his abysmal play and literally got told: "I don't know what game you're watching, he was flying out there on the ice"

yeah he should give scott moir and patrick chan a run for their money at the next winter games

With fans in the stands game 6 is a guaranteed loss considering the momentum an OTW already will give the Habs. Unless the government allows us some fan power in game 7, tonight was the end of the series. Shame that Montreal will win based on politics.

Matthews and Marner are ghosts of their regular season selves.

Some superstars step up in a huge way when it matters the most. Marner just falls over.

Matthews is just kind of there. He makes effort on D and works hard, but there’s zero creativity and he’s getting no good looks.
Matthews has been a beast

7 hits tonight.

His line mates seem to forget they have the rocket winger on their line. Even Caufield has been set up more by his line mates .

Holl is the only one this series who saw he had matthews with him so made a simple smart play and it ended up in a goal.

Welp, the comeback was fun and all but this team deserved every bit of this loss for that useless start.

They can't do that and I'm glad they didn't get away with it even against a weaker opponent.

The bottom 6 and bottom pair was all sorts of fugly in this one, and it didn't help that Jack was pooping his pants most of the might.

Be better, you dummies.

Suzuki is a C, so not involved in the Bogo play. Hugging the Blueline doesn't make any sense in the situation

It's fine to disagree, but I don't think you understand why D pinch, what the purpose is, or the outcome in this situation. The pinch had the intended result and was the easy play with the coverage he had

I understand it, you want to keep possession, winger rotates to the point to cover. I’m not taking away that Galchenyuk made a bone head move. But I do think Bogosian pinching caught him by surprise. I’m rewatching it right now and it was an unnecessary pinch. Galchenyuk could have won that puck battle. Bogosian didn’t have to pinch there’s but oh well. Off to game 6!

How much value are we getting from Marner and Matthews? Their awful play cannibalizes on the Leafs PP opportunities, and they’re not converting during even strength play. This quality of play isn’t worth $10m a year for one of them, let alone split even between the two.
It wouldn't be so bad if we were playing a good team, but to have your pp suck against the Habs, well that tells you everything you need to know. A stationary, uncreative pp

We can't scratch Galchenyuk, it was a dumb play but we don't have the skill to scratch him. Game 4 he won and his play to tie it was why we were in OT.

Its obvious why many teams gave up on him tho, hes not the brightest bulb when in comes to understanding the defensive aspect.

I blame our D on that play more than I blame Galchenyuk.

Took me like 10 minutes to get over this loss.

I am supremely confident we take this in game 6 in front of Montreal's fans.
Same, was so so disappointed, but then logically thought, it took, 3 giveaways, 1 really bad goaltending game, 3 lines capable of scoring on the opposition for them to eek out a win in ot. Game 6 should be the end of this

Last game was his best, which is why you were rightfully called out.

Some of y'all are being way too dramatic.

A couple very dumb mental errors by individual players led to a couple bad goals against this game. It sucks but these things happen, even during the playoffs.

Leafs now get the privilege to end the series while making 2500 Habs fans sad they overpaid for tickets.
If it was a regular goal we would t be so pissed off but to give up a 2-0 at the beginning of ot with one of the worst plays I’ve ever seen is so f***ing infuriating
