Leaf apologists, should we be concerned yet or do we have to lose to the one-win Anaheim team before you are? This team as constructed is not working, and I don't know what to do. But, then again, I'm not paid to know what to do. It doesn't seem there are any repercussions for the continued mistakes and that's on the coach.

At this point this is a skill team that is struggling to make even the most basic skill plays.

I mean last year, despite the slow start, they were at least solid defensively and just having some tough puck luck.

This year just looks sloppy and the stars aren't performing consistently enough.

Matthews has an Art Ross/Hart hangover, and Marner hasn't been much better. Nylander and Tavares have at least done something this year.

The offense is doing practically nothing right now. Since Winnipeg, we've barely had a consistent offensive shift and the defense is baring the brunt of it. They are taking wave after wave of pressure with no real relief because we can barely sustain pressure at the other end.

That’s a sure way to give your team an instantaneous defeat, he’s terrible in every sense of the word. Can’t even get a save percentage up for his career above .890%. Even in the NHL he look like crap, I don’t even think he’s good enough to play in the AHL, haven’t seen anything good about him while he was on the Marlies or in Toronto.

We are talking about star management and how to groom star players to play in the NHL. Obviously when you don't play stars as much as they (or fans) want, the "bad" players get more ice time as a result.

But if you're building for the long term you don't care about gifting ice time to a "bad" veteran rental. You are doing what needs to be done to build the character and habits of your core players who will be here for a long time.

You are focusing on the wrong players.

Babcocks time was up, it looks like Keefes is as well. Both are/were trying to get something out of these stars that hasnt clicked here.

Surely Dubas realizes irrespective of what Keefe has accomplished, he's being tuned out - and does this every bother me to say - by a group that refuses to be challenged by their coach(es).

I think Joel Q. or Barry Trotz needs to come in and determine whether we are in a holding pattern post-Tavares contract (as he continues to lead the team in scoring no less) or if there's some semblance of integrity and motivation left.

IF THIS GROUP CAN'T FIND ANOTHER GEAR UNDER ONE OF THEM: Then it's time to call it a day and bring in boatloads of rebuilding assets and start again.

AND IF THAT SOLUTION ISNT ACTIONABLE: We know that this isn't a hockey organization first, it's a printing press.

Our 4th line centre is driving our offence. Where is our elite core???? Looks to me like a pampered, spoiled, entitled group of alleged leaders.
