This game doesn’t matter.
They will be in the playoffs.
What really matters is Matthews’ wrist.
If he doesn’t get healthy they won’t win a round.

a good learning curve there vs 2x canuvks.

Andersen was pretty good, huthsinson was aaight too on that first game. Miller and horvat really battled hard on our sucka thugs. Tavares and them better be better in the future. Tavvy goal was aaight thouhg, hard. On that mother.

But yeah, not gonna winn em all. We have win almost all of our fool games. We playing tight D also. Miller and horvat just find the way to win tonigight. Matthews was not on his best, clearly. Doesn'
t matter. We lead the NHL AND THE WORLD. WITH OUR MONEY AND TALENT. OTHERS IS JELIOUS. HARD.

We were talking in the GDT about Freddy before it got closed, anyways, I'm not sure how goals 2 and 3 were on Andersen. A tip in front on a PP and a fluky bounce off Rielly and broken stick for Brodie. Goal 4 was all Andersen.
Andersen constantly loses his net and makes it really easy to beat him. Most goalies can position themselves very well and take most of the net away, but not him. He doesn't let in many super egregious goals, but he constantly gets beat more than an average goalie would

We didn’t even need to “take advantage” just needed to play their A Game. Seems like they were a little bit satisfied after the job well done in Edmonton vs McJesus and just didn’t really take Vancouver too seriously.

The Leafs didn't need to play their A game to win, especially tonight...just need to play steady...they pretty much imploded in the 3rd period after Vancouver tied the game.

a lot of brain cramps and yet the leafs still had the game under control until that awful penalty. refs "missed" about 5 penalties by vancouver on their powerplay which made a huge difference. Let them do basically whatever they wanted to us all night. The 3rd goal is completely on Reilly and the last one was completely on Marner who both had terrible nights.

Vancouver gave us their stanley cup effort which the refs enabled by ignoring every minor infraction. Also holy shit the refs have broken up more leafs plays by failing to get out of the way this season than I can count.
Pop the cork canucks, enjoy your miracle on ice moment then get back in the basement where you belong

Anderson has borderline lost his job

You sure? They've given him so much leash over the years it feels like they're afraid of offending him. His demeanor tells me he has a real attitude problem that forces coaches and management to treat him with kids gloves. He's completely earned a stretch watching from the bench yet it never happens.

This team will never win with Andersen in net. Ever. Ever ever.

Leafs are allowed to have a bad game or two. Thornton should be retired, not On the first line. He’s being carried and it’s obvious. Why else would Keefe put Hyman up there in the third period. A contender shouldn’t do that. Put Hyman up on first line and switch Marner with Nylander. Put Marner back with Tavares.

How does Freddy pull this PK
TOR

into a sub .800 performance?
Freddy unfortunately is a very bad PK goalie. You need your goaltender to be your best PKer.

Thornton off top line. Mitch was brutal. Matty looks injured still so we need to figure out how to get him healthy

I am not convinced that Thornton is not playing injured still as well, he has not looked himself either.. Both Matthews and Thornton are bumped and bruised. The chemistry is just not there right now at all.. I blame it on lingering injuries on both, not an excuse, just what I observed.

I'd give it a period before switching up the lines next game. See if the top line clicks, if not,

Thornton - Matthews - Willy
Hyman - JT - Marner
Engvall - Kerfoot - Mik

It's clear the boys were tired. They didn't have their legs, were falling all night and one step behind. When they're winning they control the boards and win faceiffs. Not the case tonight.

It's to be expected. They came off the series against Edmonton leaving it all on the ice. That was intense hockey and could not be sustained. If anybody has played sports it's all about adrenaline leaving the body and leaving you sapped. It's also psychological, when you play an equal foe and gear up for them as the leaf's did with Edmonton the next opponent is hard to get up for.
Too many games in short succession, simple as that.

I couldn't care much less about this game.

It's hard for good teams to show up and play bottom feeders, throw in substantially better goaltending performances and it's whatever, who cares.

Good for the Canucks, hopefully they don't slink back into being punching bags when Demko isn't putting up .96+ each game.

Offence was super predictable these two games. Gain the zone, curl back, pass back to D...show a different look from time to time.

Every now and then you get one of those games where the Leafs show their immaturity again. We get this team in the playoffs and we are f***ed.

Marner was a bad joke on skates tonight.
Definitely a lot of individual play tonight from some players sunk the team. Bad passes at the wrong times too.
Andersen can’t continue to be the 2nd best goalie either.

Marner can look bad for a game or two and then put up 4 points in the next.
Relax!!
I'd prefer if his bad games weren't an outright negative. That's his next step IMO, we should all know he can produce

I mean we're tied after that then Marner has two horrific unforced turnovers that end up leading to the final goals. We lost by 2, so....

Nylander set up the meltdown. When he rifled the puck down the ice that caused second defensive zone face off it looked like an unforced error and when he lobbed it into the stands the second time on an unforced play you knew his head wasn't in it.

Marner followed up with a couple of lone ranger rushes, terrible shot selections and that brutal drop pass to Muzzin at center ice. And as the playmaking winger on the top line a lot of the bad puck movement throughout the game had to do with questionable decisions by him.

This was obvious after the first period Thursday. If you couldn't read it then, it was obvious after 2 shifts today. Keefe did nothing.
