I don't want us to burn out guys in October but when you're down 3 goals why not stack up two lines and run a short bench for the game. No way in hell Brown should have player more than Matthews in a game like that.
Kadri-Tavares-Kapanen
Marleau-Matthews-Marner

*Obviously don't run one line out there for 30 minutes like Edmonton did but you can easily run these guys up to 21-22 minutes if needed.
but brown did not play more then matty

and we had 4 PKs//hint brown plays PK.

Why are you quoting pace now? It's next to meaningless because how quickly it can flactuate so early in the season. Lose next game and the pace drops to 98 points. Which is not terrible, but just shows you how much it can fluctuate. I think this team is really good but there are some glaring issues that need to be fixed. Coaching to me has not been good enough, and also too many passengers on the team.
oh ok, thats not good enough

how about this, we are #1 in the east

and #3 in the entire league

If Tavares and Mathews can't score while being fully refreshed taking the easier matchups through for 17 minutes.. What makes you think they would have scored playing tired for 23 minutes? We have depth but our goalscorers weren't on, Babcock gave the relaible two-way players the hard matchups and set our superstars up fully refreshed and not against Blues top line. Our forwards couldnt make that work thats on them
look some fans just "don't get it"

we had 4 PKs to deal with, hrmm i wonder if brown is a major part of our PK hrmmm

Well, I don't know what to tell you. Every team has some issues, what's wrong with pointing them out? When the big guys don't score, we got nothin. Other guys have to step up. We are trying to get the silver cup everybody else is chasing.

I think he's providing context hoping some people will back away from the ledge. Even if he saves just one life that's a good thing.

I wish the Leafs' Ultimate Cheerleaders would accept a reality that goes beyond "9 games played". We all knew last season and in the playoffs that we were soft and our defense was poor. For some reason the Tavares signing made everyone forget about our shortcomings. Perhaps the Calder Cup win made people think everything is rosie too.

Nothing has changed. When an opposing team follows a game plan of checking and pressing the D we lose.

Dermott has played pretty good, but our other Calder graduate Johnsson is God Awful.

There's no way TOR will go deep in the playoffs. If Dubas thinks that he has a smarter way of winning then he better think again.

Having Tavares is only going to make fans of fantasy happy, but fans of winning games will never be satisfied.

Interesting. Two games since Dubas returned from the Zurich Summit empty handed, and two poor efforts.

What a coincidence!

That won't happen until our big guys get on board in the compete department. Right now only Taveres has this in his game where his skill doesn't overweigh his compete.

Our best players so far to start this season hasn't been the big guys minus Taveres. You guys have just been caught up in the offensive explosion but don't realise they weren't playing right. Some stand out goaltending in the Pittsburgh game was too much for them but last night they were exposed. When your skill outweighs your compete the outcome more times than not will be the outcome of last nights game.

Personally I hope they have a couple of more like last to get it in the head of the big guys what it takes to win a championship because right now especially Matthews doesn't get it.

Those 6 wins were pretty satisfying.

We al know from your posting history that your a nylander fanboy
But no matter what you say marner is way better than 60 point soft
Perimeter player nylander
But hey if it makes you feel better to run marner down then have at it

You run Nylander down then, in the next sentence say: "But hey if it makes you feel better to run marner down then have at it"

Did people think we were going to win 82 games or never have a bad effort/game?

This is a 82 game marathon, not a short sprint. Next game plz

So every other superstar centre in the league is just being misused when they are being played over 20 minutes a night?

If matthews cant do it without being tired come playoff time there might be something wrong with his conditioning considering his age. That’s clearly not the problem tho. The problem is Babcock
So if the problem is Babcock what would you do better than him? This game mathews played almost 18 minutes a few games ago he played over 20 minutes. Sometimes thats what just what happens with ice time. Are you saying that Babcock isnt as smart as you because you would play mathews 19 or 20 minutes every single game instead of 18 minutes sometimes and that would be the difference. Or would you play him like 21 or 23 minutes. I'm trying to figure out if the 1-2 minute difference of ice time is what makes people think Babcock an idiot or smart.

Meh...

We're only 1 trade + 1 UFA (two RD) away from a top-10 defense for years to come.

Example UFA: Jan Rutta ($4,000,000 x 6 years)
Example Trade: Brett Pesce ($4,000,000 x 6 years)

LEFT-D
RIGHT-D
CAP-HIT
Rielly
Pesce
$9,000,000
Dermott
Rutta
$4,900,000
Borgman
Ozhiganov
$2,300,000
Sandin
Liljegren
$1,700,000
Rosen
Durzi
-------
Gordeev
Rasanen
-------
Nielsen
Subban
-------
TOTAL
-------
$17,900,000
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

If Dubas can sign Tavares, I bet he can sign one of Myers, Stralman & Rutta.

You can also add Zaitsev & Gardiner back in if you want to.

Is Babcock the only coach in the league or something? Why exactly do you use the logic of "LOL you think you know better than Babcock?" It's completely stupid.

We can look at other coaches around the league and observe how they utilize their forwards. Washington, Pittsburgh, Tampa etc... they give their stars ice-time, lots of it. They do a lot of things that Babcock doesn't do - and they've all had more success than Babcock.

There's really no point in discussing Babcock's coaching with you. You're completely locked in your appeal to authority type reasoning.

What I think is stupid is someone who has no formal training whatsoever to not only call a hall of fame coach stupid but to actually think its stupid to agree with a stanley cup winning coach over your opinion gained from watching hockey games on your tv.

Its like a passenger telling a 20- year airplane pilot who has already won airplane-pilot-of-the-year and international-airplane -pilot-of-the-year how to fly a plane because he saw other pilots fly planes differently on T.V. even though he has never been behind the actual controls.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with any NHL coach but its annoying when people almost brag at how much smarter they are and how stupid he is as a coach. Put in your 2 cents if you want but if I put in my 2 cents dont say it is stupid
