Management needs to buckle down and do some f***ing planning. have a f***ing foresight

Potential opponents (in playoffs)

- If finish Atlantic as 1st (potential guys: Red Wings, Florida, Pens, Isles, Rangers)
- If finish Atlantic 2nd or 3rd (potential guys: Bruins/ Tampa)
- If finish in WC spot (potential guys: Canes, Bruins/Tampa)

Gotta start putting in the work NOW for team balance not wait till the last freakin' minute.

Leafs' pending UFAs (Kerfoot, Engvall, Holl -> total of about 7.5M AAV). I really belive that 7.5 AAV can be used in a more efficient, concrete and competent way

Well considering Lindholm is having a banner year and somehow Boston got him to signing 6.5 million year and currently their number 1 D

Allow that to sink in

Dubas should have a pretty good idea of the likely opponents in the playoffs, and he should have a good idea of how much this playstyle is effective vs each of them.

Matthews, Nylander, and Marner all looked like bad beer leaguers during that OT, but guys want to hang the loss on the 4th string goalie. Sure, why not?

It's usually easier to blame the goalie or the last man back on defense than to question why our star power is so bad in OT. Or even more generally, why is it that when they have these rough patches at specific things it always snowballs into some kind of mental block. You know they'll be running through the season with this massive OT psychology now.

Boston got Hall to sign a cheap deal man. I would seriously investigate it. How the heck did Hall sign so cheap

I think that had more to do with Hall wanting a long term deal and not going into UFA and having to sign another 1 year deal. His bad UFA experience probably had a lot to do with him settling and taking a deal that guarantees money and a good hockey situation.

people can blame marner all they want but the turn over happened, NYI regrouped and what the hell is Matthews doing there in OT? why is he so high? again if he doesn't intercept the puck, the leafs are screwed. No reason to be pressuring that much, he does this every OT and it always leads to an odd man rush. Justin Holl puts no pressure on Brock Nelson whatsover, just lets him walk and drop pass. Just piss poor defense.

The Matthews drift was beyond terrible.

Got to give Dubas credit where credit is due: he has built a team tailor made for powerplays and shootouts (but not good 5 on 5 and horrible 3 on 3) but unfortunately the game isn't played that way for 60+ minutes.

Hall has a house in Etibicoke apparently. He would have stayed and taken that type of deal
Boston always gets these types of deals.....How's Lindholm only getting 6.5 million?

We played a good game, we will win a lot of games if we continue that and both of our goaltenders can stay fit

I don't know what to say about us in OT, you would think we were trying to lose watching it
yes
Sad reality I guess 🤣

The Leafs haven't been their best with multiple injuries in defense and goaltending (where theyre already shallow at) and are still top 3 in the East is a much better way to look at it.

If Matthews gets going while Brodie and Samsonov get healthy we should be in pretty good shape.

Probably because he's been a 60 point forward since his Hart year and he's never heard of the defensive zone.

For what is worth and how you want to measure it. He hasn't been a -minus player with the Boston
in 3 years he has been +30

I guess that counts for something?

That's crazy how he was a minus every other year of his career other than one and stopped being one as soon as he's playing 5th fiddle to some of the best defensive forwards in the league. 13th on the Bruins in +/- and one point ahead of Foligno, it's amazing he didn't get 10+ mil from Boston.
