Jake Muzzin got us off to a rocking start the first game of the season when he handed the puck to Montreal with 20 seconds left to play for the winning goal. That's going to be a tough one to top, but its definitely doable.

Solid game from the team, then overtime came and you know the drill. At least we are banking points, sure it would be nice to get the extra one but better then losing in regulation.

Going down 3 dman for a long period of time is going to hurt.

I was only half paying attention in OT, but from what i saw they didnt open up enough. Matthews didn't try to make a play off the opening sequence, Nylander made two throwaway passes and we lose with our shutdown pair on the ice off a pretty meh chance

Yeah not sure what Nylander was seeing out there but he kept missing Matthews on the stretch pass. Hard to say which one of the two was at fault for that, cause Matthews missing resulting in the icings also made Nylander look bad.

He’s not really supposed to be here. I always try to remember that when I get upset with Kallgren. 3 goals against on a weeknight at home and 30 plus saves is reasonable goaltending to win. But we should have locked up the 2-1.

I understand that notion, and it makes sense when the goals are scored at an nhl level, like I don’t really blame him for the first one, because of the flukey nature of it. Neither really for the OT winner, it’s a pretty good shot and like you stated, he shouldn’t be here and that’s an nhl level shooter. However when it’s goals like the 2nd one where it’s not his skill, but mainly his decision making + hockey IQ.

Yea the game should’ve been locked up at 2-1, probably should’ve made it 3-1, but no matter who’s in net you can’t concede the 2nd goal in that manner. Let them score in a way they have to earn it, like the 1st goal, but don’t just throw goals away

Bro... he is an AHL goalie... playing in an NHL game.... that is like going as a 10 year old on a go kart track, and me putting you into the seat as a 10 year old into a full blown NASCAR... it is a whole different level... he has done OK! Hey... he has been better then Skinner of the LOLERS! or Jack 'SOUPY' Campbell... last I checked anyway! lol

Strong side straight up shot that hits twine is simply a weak goal. You can understand it if theres a legitimate pass threat or on the off wing for the angle, but not strong side with plenty of time and space to cut the angle. Proper positioning and nobody remembers that as a dangerous chance or a good shot

Really tough to see a deflection there or a change in movement. If it does, ill retract, but it looked like Holl stepped up and Kallgren is set/reacting to that placement. Hes way too deep in his crease and looks off his angle strong side

I seriously doubt Dubas has a blank check to do whatever he wants and I'm not sure anybody decent is even available this early in the season for anything less than an overpayment

You can tell by the puck movement, after it hits Holl's stick the puck starts turning end over end and ends up way higher than the initial shot. The initial shot would've been low glove imo.

Maybe, i didnt see it at first, but it could be a deflection. Id still say hes off his angle and proper setup allows him to make the save, but not as weak as i thought if its a clean shot that beats him

If Murray and Samsonov miss more time later on in the season, Dubas has to make a trade for a goalie, or give Petruzelli a shot. Kallgren is just simply not cutting it.

And WTF was Willie doing on that goal in O.T?
