Just because they are low playing players doesn't mean they don't have to contribute

Joe gets quality pp and our pp sucks. Simmonds supposed to hit but so far he has been run over

They are definitely part of the problem

PP sucked last year too when Joe wasn't here so I guess we'll blame him for our shitty PP this season just because why not. Guy has more goals than Marner this series which is kinda sad. Simmonds is 4th on our team for hits and the only guys ahead of him have 10 more mins played a game than he does so there's that. But yeah, I agree that these 2 are the reason why we lose :sarcasm:

I honestly respect the optimism of those delusional enough to believe these chokers can actually win game 7. I hope I'm wrong and get dunked on afterwards but how many do or die games does this core need to choke before everyone realizes it's just not happening?

For the record, the answer is 7...
7 times this core has played in an elimination game...
7 times this core has lost and elimination game...
But alas, on Monday we will have a new number... 8!

how can you not be motivated? If I was getting paid a million a year I would be super motivated. I guess hockey has become the sport of privileged rich families where they are looking to get even more rich and not give a flying "F" ? :dunno:

Looking at these tweets....If it isn't alarming I don't know what is.

> Marner has cracked mentally, awful game
> Matthews playing soft, doesn't want it
> Campbell was very good, without him this ends like 6-0
> Nylander was good, so was Kerfoot but they aren't getting enough ice time
> Dermott sucks, awful game from beginning to end. I don't want to see him again
> Bogosian was solid
> Hyman and Foligno where useless
> If you aren't going to play Thornton in OT, why play him at all?
> So much panic overall. They don't have the mental makeup for playoffs success.

This is something that puzzles me. Matthews was hitting anything that moved earlier in the playoffs. Was playing the boards hard too. Last 2 games he stopped doing that... I guess someone said something to him or he is done with Keefe's moronic approach? :dunno:

Hyman I can see why he might be playing a little safe. He is a pending UFA; doesn't have a contract; and he and his agent are probably not stupid to think that Leafs are going to be able to offer him the contract they are looking for given Leafs' cap situation.

Marner + 2022 1st + Amirov for Eichel is what I offer the Sabres

Eichel getting to play with Matthews could do good for both of them and help both shed the loser label.

If we lose game 7 I seriously can't stand MM being a leaf. He's gone from my 2nd favorite player to simply being unlikable with how he played tonight
I haven't been able to respect the guy since he got on “that plane” to Philli. I agree. I can’t stand him after tonight. Goodnight yal time to go cuss myself to sleep

Going into this series, I thought we could lose this series only one of two ways: Price playing amazing and/or Campbell playing like shit.

None of those has really happened. Sure Price has made saves to keep the Habs in it but that's his job, it's not like he's putting up 50 save games where we control the entire game.

We're about to lose this series because Matthews and especially Marner are god knows where.

This cannot be true. He along with the team already got their previous coach fired, they are not allowed to give up on the teams yes man coach 1 full year in, they stunk and so did he

It's not that they always make crucial mistakes. Every team does. The issue is this team doesn't have fight. Other teams play hard and make you forget mistakes.

EXACTLY!!!

When engaged in a battle, and the other guy exerts more effort, our guys roll over... every.single.time. Hyman used to be the exception, he is clearly not healthy. Any 50/50 play the Habs have been winning.

I thought Montreal played really well until they got the 2-0 lead. Then they just seemed to sit back and let us come at them. It was there for the taking. So frustrating. I actually felt like we were going to do it.

I’ve heard enough of that for so long. To hear something like that in the playoffs is unacceptable.

Jason Spezza has 3 goals and an assist
He was robbed with save on the season and again in a breakaway.

Creating chances and timely goals

But somehow Joe T gets premium minutes on PP with Auston Matthews

f U Keefe
What in the sweet f*** is all of this nepotism crap? Jumbo hasnt earned one f***ing thing on this team since day 1 yet he keeps getting premium chances despite being a total liability!?!?! God i hate this f***ing team.

The right players aren't getting enough of them currently. I'll bet Marner has more than anyone else on this team

The right players have had plenty of great chances the past two games. Almost everyone on the team has had at least a few good chances, but they just haven't been able to finish on the majority of those opportunities for one reason or another. Its crazy how many times they could've put the Habs away and they couldn't do it. I look at the Bruins and they are usually the exact opposite of that.

Feel what you feel about them as players and their ability to step up when it matters, but don't waste your time, one way or the other, parsing the post-game quotes of professional athletes. It's all pabulum.

The depth has been there but nothing on the mental and physical toughness. And part of that has to be the system, but we see it every team that faces us, even boston, makes it an emphasis to be physical. Never hear that from us and I'm sick of it. Meanwhile every tough guy that comes here is skating away from hits within a few weeks of the season. Everybody should be relentless and taking the body on the forecheck.

The way to win in this NHL is to have players who want to play for you and take discounts to win.

Boston, Tampa, Colorado - the top teams in the league all have players who took team favorable contracts.

Really - that to me, was the biggest indicator that this core will never win.

Especially when all your contracts "will look good down the road with cap predictions.."

Teams that already got players on favourable contracts only benefit more, their player's trade value is even higher now, opposite goes for Leaf's stars. I get the trade Marner hype but hey who got 11 mills in cap space? Not contenders, Boston would have to trade both Bergeron and Pasta to make the space (ok they are 13 together vs 11). Going to rebuilding team? I don't see bottom feeder trading 3 1st round picks so they can go win-now mode with Marner..

What do you expect to get back for Mitch Marner (who this buyer)?

I have to say, venting on here with all of you is a life saver (not literally). My wife is not interested in my anger lol

Thank you all for venting, supporting and understanding what it means to be a Leaf fan... it's a tough path we chose.

Deep breath folks. Maybe we try the positive vibe thing for the next 2 days? I mean, it can't hurt? Sleep on it.

See you all in the PreGT and GDT! Cheers.
