Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 3-2 in OT

We've had enough good scoring opportunities that if we could've converted on even a few of them we'd be going on to the next round already. That Hyman breakaway is the Leafs offense in a nutshell. Great chance that gets wasted instead of getting converted like a number of other players on other teams would've done.

Generating good scoring chances is part of the problem, but I think the bigger problem is the lack of finish for this team where for whatever reason they can't convert on the opportunities that are presented to them.
The right players aren't getting enough of them currently. I'll bet Marner has more than anyone else on this team

I don't get the Campbell praise past 2 games. Habs shots were weak when they were dominating us and their rockets didn't even hit the net. Flew wide.

Campbell doesn't deserve anything bad said about him either though. I'm right in the middle with him heading into game 7.

He plays well when the Leafs dominate. Looks about league average when we slip. I wouldn't hold my breath he knows where the puck is when there's a wild rebound or the play becomes scrambled . I mean you guys saw with your own eyes his controller die on him for 3 goals in the last 2 games.

You are high. If not for Campbell this game is over after 40. The problem isn't goaltending. The Leafs didn't come to play until they were down 2-0, and at this point its become a trademark of this team.
the goalies always at fault and i wish i was high after watching this clusterf*** of a game

The benefits witnessing a Game 7 win (lol) does not outweigh the toll witnessing a game 7 loss would have on me. No way no how. Fool me five times? I don't think so.

Also shouldn't be overlooked that we got goaltending like *that* from Campbell in an elimination game and blew it. Bad goaltending was the only comprehensible way this series should've been close.

It was more on a technicality. Toffoli went in the crease on his own and Campbell technically couldn't get back into the net to make the save. Had Campbell made a stronger effort, it may look more legitimate.

A risky call but the PK has been very good. Besides the Leafs still got it to OT anyway.

If it was in the last 10 minutes, maybe you can justify it. But they had 14:30 to play. And it was clearly a longshot at best. Not only did everyone know it, but it took barely a minute for the refs to review it.

At the very least, it shows the absolute lack of confidence Keefe has in our scoring ability right now. And on one hand, that makes no sense, but on the other hand, Marner and Matthews are doing their regular shit to perfection.

Still got game 7. It's not an automatic loss, even if it feels like it now.
What makes you so confident in this group? Will a switch magically flip in our stars. Do you believe our goalie will put a 36+ shutout through 3 periods + ot for us to get a goal. This team doesn’t inspire anyone right now

Utterly bizarre how much the complexion of this team changed when they won game 4. The slightest ounce of pressure makes this team into complete cowards. The starts to game 5 and 6 were utterlh putrid

If the Leafs had played like they did during OT the whole game it would have been an easy win
We say this about them in every important game. At this stage, this is what they are. They say the same shit in interviews every year and then come back and play like it's a preseason game.

lol what to say.. ughhh. this team never makes it easy on us. I thought after the habs blow their load in the first time minutes we’d be able to take over... we are the better team no doubt about it. Didn’t agree with challenging that goal.. and that Marner delay of game..Yikes. No pressure on him at all, just clear it stupid. -5 in this series for him.. not impressed. That’s a player who makes to much money to be a liability. Another game 7 kids.. I’m holding my breathe but if we lose.. it’s not cause the habs are better, it’s cause our players can’t handle pressure.

Boston is like 2-3 levels above us in mental fortitude. If we somehow won and had to face Boston in the SCF, we should just straight up save their time and ours and just lose 4 straight. We're not winning the Game 7 that it eventually will go to.

Watching how amazing other teams are is almost unfair. It's like other teams draft the most mentally strong players and we always draft talent with no other internal drivers.

I miss the Leafs teams of the 90's and early 2000's.

Whatever happened to Nic Roberston? He had the look of a future star?

Keefe plays former stars in Joe and simmonds

His entire year has been wasted along with joey Anderson because of Joe, Simmonds, Vesey, Petang and baranov

I am devastated.

After years in the wilderness we finally got some direction, bottomed out, landed our franchise player, and surrounded him with elite skill.

We added veteran leadership and even some grit to fortify the young core. We finally addressed the holes on the blueline. We even finally seemed to solve the goaltending dilemma.

Yet it's always the same. Always heartbreak.

I'm reading so much anger on here. But I don't feel anger. I feel despair. This is really a crushing loss, right up there with Game 7 vs. Boston in 2014, to leave you just completely gutted and questioning everything.

Shots 13-1 in overtime. We lost.
That should tell you everything.

He played Nylander Marner Matthews a few times
Marner Matthews ARE NOT WORTH THE ICE THAT THEY STAND ON DURING THE PLAYOFFS as long as they play pond hocky they can score plenty of goals. but in the playoffs it`s a waste of time to put them on the ice

The problem is, our depth hasn't been the problem. Our depth has kept us in this series.

Even if Matthews was the Matthews of last playoffs or the regular season we win. Marner and Matthews have cost us this series.
The depth has been there but nothing on the mental and physical toughness. And part of that has to be the system, but we see it every team that faces us, even boston, makes it an emphasis to be physical. Never hear that from us and I'm sick of it. Meanwhile every tough guy that comes here is skating away from hits within a few weeks of the season. Everybody should be relentless and taking the body on the forecheck.

You still got to like Toronto’s chances in game 7. They absolutely dominated that overtime period. More often than not you will be rewarded for that effort.

This isn't a shot at you but nobody cares to hear this crap anymore. Dominating, reward with effort, deserved to win blah blah. No one cares about these moral victories, these guys are losers until they prove otherwise.

Leaf fans have zero reason to be confident going into game 7.
