It is kinda crazy that Dermott made one mistake and it ended up in our net. The Habs D were getting hammered during the OT and not a single goal scored.

Someone made a curse on this organization.

I am devastated.

After years in the wilderness we finally got some direction, bottomed out, landed our franchise player, and surrounded him with elite skill.

We added veteran leadership and even some grit to fortify the young core. We finally addressed the holes on the blueline. We even finally seemed to solve the goaltending dilemma.

Yet it's always the same. Always heartbreak.

I'm reading so much anger on here. But I don't feel anger. I feel despair. This is really a crushing loss, right up there with Game 7 vs. Boston in 2014, to leave you just completely gutted and questioning everything.

yup it was Andy's fault that his sub 2 gaa last year cost us the series but the Soupman gets a pass this year . lol

and making a few good saves early is great but not when you follow it up by giving up 2 muffins and not being able to make a big save or so i've read endlessly on this board , lol
Its ok to disagree. I just want Soup in net over Andy at this point. If they can upgrade in the offseason, please do.

Who's watching Monday just to see how they complete the choke?

Any other team I'd have hope but I have none. No reason to.

Utterly delusional to blame Campbell at all. He was great tonight. As I said earlier, this is on Matthews and Marner, and no one else. Not because everyone else has been flawless, but because everyone else has done what they needed to do to ensure the stars could make the difference. They haven't.
Precisely this. The complimentary pieces can only do so much. They are the table setters. Matthews and Marner have to take over and overwhelm inferior competition. This is not a good look right now.

Habs hadn’t scored a PP goal all series. They were due and everybody watching knew it. So when they finally click, our idiot coach makes one of the worst challenges I have ever seen and puts them back on the PP

Could no one on the entire staff see there was no interference and tell Shelly?

It was more on a technicality. Toffoli went in the crease on his own and Campbell technically couldn't get back into the net to make the save. Had Campbell made a stronger effort, it may look more legitimate.

A risky call but the PK has been very good. Besides the Leafs still got it to OT anyway.

Yeah, if they are eliminated Monday, which we all know they will be because we're the leafs. No more of this p***y built team that skates away from every hit. I'd get rid of Dubas and Keefe. Give Torts a chance coach our team if he wants it. And Marner is gone. No way you can justify paying him 11 mill, taking away cap space for depth in our lineup. Dubas is learning the hard way that playoffs are won through depth, mental and physical toughness, not just having top talent.
The problem is, our depth hasn't been the problem. Our depth has kept us in this series.

Even if Matthews was the Matthews of last playoffs or the regular season we win. Marner and Matthews have cost us this series.

I've seen dudes do this, but I question the logic. If we win game 7 it should be a glorious night - why diminish it with the realization that you lost a bunch of money on it?
Cuz money can always be made again!
I'm thinking of doing the same. (Altho last month) I did win the leafs 50/50 draw thingy , so I have some money to play with lol

well some teams need to sell tickets and win regular-season games so they will want his regular-season play and if they get to the playoffs that is bonus money for them even if it is 2 home games
Sure, but with his cap hit, you'd never back the value that you'd want. It would be a lot easier if the guy would just show up.

*It's not an excuse

But our scorers arent getting the chances our setup men are. We miss Tavares on that front and there's a reason Marner keeps getting looks that Matthews and even Nylander aren't

With that said, it shouldn't matter. Were good enough to win and generate for them and simply not doing enough right now.

The unforced errors aren't helping us either.

We've had enough good scoring opportunities that if we could've converted on even a few of them we'd be going on to the next round already. That Hyman breakaway is the Leafs offense in a nutshell. Great chance that gets wasted instead of getting converted like a number of other players on other teams would've done.

Generating good scoring chances is part of the problem, but I think the bigger problem is the lack of finish for this team where for whatever reason they can't convert on the opportunities that are presented to them.

Same. If the core isn’t shaken up after a loss on Monday. I’m not spending a cent in Leafs merchandise or games, until they win a playoff series. Been 30 years of this shit.
ye, almost 40 years watching this, always the same results. gutwrenching losses.

I feel sick thinking that we are going to blow this glorious chance to the ECF

We won't ever ever ever beat Boston or Tampa. If we have to play them again next year it's going to be another disappointment

These guys always prove that they don't deserve to be as revered and hyped as they are

Hey all it takes is for our top line to show up for a second time in 7 tries and we might be ok. Is it too much to ask? We'll find out shortly.

Based on what I've seen, we wouldn't hold a candle to the Jets... they might sweep us ffs.

Still got game 7. It's not an automatic loss, even if it feels like it now.
