You couldn't have asked for a more pathetic version of the habs to face in the playoffs and then to go up 3-1 only to do this? This team doesn't know how to close the deal. It's like Ovi in Washington. I guess we just have to sit and wait and hope that Matthews figures this shit out at some point?

Another thing: How come Carey Price gets whistles without even having to cover the puck, but Montreal gets to dig and dig and dig at Jack Campbell's pads trying to pull the puck out with the ref standing there like a dumbass?

through nothing but their own stupidity and completely unnecessary errors, it's now just coming down to 1 game to keep their season alive. if they get screwed by refs, or if Campbell is off, or if Price stands on his head they are done. They should have already won and had a clear path to the final 4, but they completely blew it

I don't think so. Winnipeg is equally a mess. Whoever makes it to the ECF is getting decimated.
...and?

Whoever wins is going to play a rested team. Leafs had a chance to put them away and shit their pants again.

Absolutely terrible play by Dermott (I think it was?) right inside his own blueline to lose the game.

Could have easily chipped it off the boards and out but no.. I'll try the high risk play, lose it and blow the second comeback in a row.

Been noticing so many high risk plays in the middle, passes against forehand forecheckers across the middle and at the bluelines.. there is reason you're not supposed to do that and the last two losses showed why.. they are trying to be way too fancy and not making the simple plays.

Our D core isn't really the problem this series. Took away this turnover, they were fine. With JT down, top guns really have to show up. That's why they got paid so much.

Look at Boston top line - Pastrnak hat trick

You know what? I don't care if Matthew's supposedly injured or not. He's doing zero ( along with Marner) to show he's willing to do anything it takes to win.
Sorry ass upgrade on Kessel, really.

There is still a game to be played. The Wild took Vegas to seven also. Leafs need to use home ice to their advantage. Draw more penalties.

The fact that the team was up 3-1 and failed to get it done twice in a row is just the typical Leaf mentality. Lack of killer instinct and led by players who play like ass for the majority of the game.

Im not holding out hope anymore. If they win I will be absolutely blown away, but for me, the script has been written the same way for too many years.

t. We played at 75% all game and still took them to OT, just like in game 5. We dominated OT only to lose.
The Leafs have far more depth and more talent than the Habs. They should dominate them. The Habs 5th and 6th Dmen played less than 7 minutes each in a 75 minute game. and the Habs most skilled forward has played less than 15 NHL games. The majority of the Leafs especially Matthews and Marner need to grow a pair and quickly. They are playing soft.

Jeesh Nylander in OT...tried to pull a 1 on 1 deke and fails...the puck rolls out of his reach and into the boards.... he is the first into the corner with the defender he tried to deke right behind him. Nylander knowing the defender is right behind him cuts away from the puck extremely early needing to fully extend his arm backwards to reach for the puck resting in the corner - of course he is unable to reach it and Montreal easily took over possession. All because he doesn't want to take a hit....

Love Nylander but man ....

But he came back on that play one the board battle and Matthews set up Marner for a one timer

Normally when we implode, it's one game. Ya know, Game 7, losing to Zamboni driver, that kind of deal.

Imploding in game five of a series to lose in 7 is truly a new low.

This team has the talent. You don't come back from 2 goals down twice in a row without talent. But they are so far beyond mentally broken it's astonishing. Core piece is getting moved this summer. It should be Marner. It will probably be Nylander. Shame, he came to play.

Fire dubas and Shanahan so the leafs are not a nhl headquarters puppet team.

Bring in a real gm and gut this team

2 first rnd picks for marner
3 first for mathews
1 first for Nylander and a 3rd

If they want to float and pass the puck and never shoot it then they can just go make millions elsewhere

So if you load up on veterans like Foligno, Spezza, Simmonds, Bogosian and Thornton to provide leadership for the playoffs and this team still has zero killer instinct nor can finish off a team they should have taken out quickly ... Maybe the problem is not that Dubas has failed to surround his stars with the right players, maybe the problem is the stars?

We had a tough coach in Babcock whom we fired. Fell on our faces and then brought in a bunch of league minimum guys to babysit. Who, making $700K is gonna lay it out tough on a dipshit superstar making $11 million when they have their head up their ass?

I expect the Habs to win this series as the Leafs haven’t proven jack shit in the playoffs.

But I wasn’t expecting to blow a 3-1 f***ing series lead by staging two great comebacks to force OT and lose it two games in a f***ing row.

For f*** sake, they keep dangling this carrot in front of me that they’ve progressed and the. Rip it away.

f***ing 34 and 16 are just choke artists
