pray that Hyman is ok.
at this point there are questionable coaching decisions especially power play. players also seem uninspired.
any way we can hire Gallant to help for the rest of the season (or take over...)??

In what way??? Were they on the ice or directly responsible for us losing? No.

they both played a solid game and spent a majority of their shifts pinning down the opposition.

its easy to pick on guys when you don’t know what else to pick on.

I'm ok with defending Simmonds, but Thornton has not done one positive thing in over 20 games. Every puck dies on his stick or goes right to the other team, yet he gets far too much ice time and powerplay time.

Simmonds was brought in to add some toughness.......he does none of that.
Thornton was brought in for his play making and Leadership......he does none of that.
They are a waste

Tonight, the difference was 100% goaltending. We were the better team for most of the night, had much more, and higher quality changes.

Our goaltender let in 2 stinkers. Their goalie saved 4-5 almost guaranteed goals.

That being said, outside of Nylander, no one really looked particular great tonight.

My point is that we see this too many times for my liking. The other goalie goes into god mode. I think the LEafs have a finishing problem. I mean Holtby is under .900 save % on the year. Suddenly he plays like one of the best goalies in the league? It's more the Leafs made him look so.

Toronto knows how to play the emotional roller coaster all too well. The highs and lows happen so many times in a season, it leaves me baffled wondering whether this team is good or bad.

I do know that their powerplay has been as bad as it can get over the last 18 games. They have nine minutes of powerplay time, a full five minutes and barely mustered a fluky goal at the tail end of it. Lack of killer instinct, lack of finish.

The effort was there, they had tons of chances. Had Toronto cashed in on some of them, I'm sure I would've shut up for a few days. But... that's how this team is. Flashes of brilliance and then forget how to score goals on the powerplay and our goaltender can't make a big save anymore.

I knew that the first shot on net in overtime would go in against us, that's how bad Campbell has been his last five or six games. He has no confidence whatsoever. After every game he's always ridiculing himself like I've never heard. I think I remember another goaltender doing that years ago, I just forget his name.

In any case, Campbell has had a chance to showcase what he had, he's proven to be a back-up goaltender, that's about it until proven otherwise.

Andersen isn't the answer. I'm a fan of his and always will be, but his game has tailed off the last few seasons. He's not shown me any sort of strong play in the playoffs that says he'll have what it takes to get the Leafs out of the first round.

The only way Toronto gets out of the first round is if they outscore their average to bad goaltending.

I hope they prove me wrong. I don't think I will be.

Andersen may not be the answer, but he's the best one among all of them. If that was Andersen giving up those goals, man, this forum would have been something

Effort was there, no doubt. But you can work hard doing the wrong thing. There's a mental fortitute that comes with a team. Champion teams have this attitude, you can tell the way they skate, the way they come together. Vegas has it, Boston has it, I even see it with Carolina. The way they stick up for each other, the way they raise their intensity

While I agree with you in most games - we make goalies look good who aren't, Holtby was legitimately fantastic tonight. I haven't seen a Leafs goaltending performance that good in a while.

I think we played a good game. Everyone is mad and I get it but we played fine we hammered the net and had many close chances and actually scored a goal in the final minute that was not called. It is what it is

what worries me is Jack. He looked like he was going to cry for losing. We need to pick him up. He’s very emotional which isn’t a bad thing let’s just use it for drive

He is too emotional, like a roller coaster.

it’s called not getting wrapped up in one game, we literally dominated them, both eye test and numbers back that up. Campbell let in two brutal goals, that is literally the difference.

If we can get goaltending sorted out we are fine

You're missing the point. You develop habits and they manifest into success, or a lack there of... They are things you can fall back on in the playoffs.

Far too often this team outplays its opponent, controls possession, and creates tons of scoring chances (as a team spending that much money on forwards should), but coughs up games to far inferior opponents on the back of poor finishing or untimely soft goals let in... Those are the type of habits that lead to your scoring drying up in the playoffs, more untimely goals surrendered and yet another 1st round exit in which fans we'll say "don't worry, next year is our year. We just got goalied and hit too many posts, but don't worry, we out-possessed them and made some highlight reel plays".

Simmonds, Reilly, Holl, Tavares, and Campbell sucked. Top line was just OK. Nylander and Robertson looked great and needed to get more icetime.

Man I hope Hyman is OK... having him and Foligno in this lineup together will make a big difference.
