My opinion more than once was that the team needed a big splash, the moving of a big contract. I also assumed Freddie might be moved.

Dubas has thus far this season been successful with the smaller moves. The team is in first, no matter how poorly they have played of late. My approach would have been different and more aggressive. We can't say he hasn't tried to surround his skill with gamers.

I hope Keefe puts more pressure on the stars to play seriously and not build a clubhouse attitude in which players think style points mean more than results and drive.

Move minutes around and let harder workers get more PP time. As soon as Foligno and Nash are ready, bring their pedigree and commitment into the lineup and give them heavy minutes.

Come playoffs, this team can't be this loose.
You just hope they win the big one before leafs turn into couple of years ago Calgary. I don't believe Keefe has balls to ask them to play seriously. He can not even sit 97 for a game.

Reilly had possession below the goal line and throws the puck up the ice to no one!
Ah, so that did happen. I was wondering how the Canucks ended up with the puck when Reilly clearly had possession.

In what way??? Were they on the ice or directly responsible for us losing? No.

they both played a solid game and spent a majority of their shifts pinning down the opposition.

its easy to pick on guys when you don’t know what else to pick on.

Well by that definiation everyone played a good game except for the players who were on for the goal?

They looked better by their standard, yes. But they still sucked. Take away their names from their jersey and reputation and as yourself, would you keep playing them?

I’ve said it before but the biggest issue with this team is coaching, they need a veteran coach who can get it done and get the most out of this team. Bruce Beaudreau, Gerard Gallant, one of those types of coaches who are hardasses but still players coaches

Now we're blaming Simmonds and Thornton? Damn, watching that game I saw them in the offensive zone controlling play much more than in the defensive zone chasing the game. Crazy that we're back to blaming our 4th line guys who get paid near league minimum instead of the guys who get paid 10x what they do or our goalies who just constantly get out goaltended from other goalies.

Oh boy, another Miracle on Ice at the Leafs' expense.

"Kadri makes it 4-1, it's done......woooooo"

"David who? He drives what? Oh this should be fun"

"Yea, the team was infected with Covid-19 and had to shut it down for a few weeks. This is the first game back, poor bastards are gonna get slaughtered"

Yes.

I think if you took away their names you’d probably want them promoted. What more do you want from 4th line players than hemming the other teams 4th line in the zone all night?

I don't know how can you blame the 4th line tonight, they did a fine job tonight. It was top line who really let the team down in this losing streak.

People complaining about Foligno, I still think he is exactly what we need. Someone to get in the ear of some of the lesser workers perhaps and convince (encourage) them to bear down and not worry about the fancy pass, make the hard play, the one that is not an effing turnover.

Lets see what he can bring before we roast him. And even if the team doesn't have playoff success, that will ultimately fall on 5 players (in no order):
- Matthwes
- Tavares
- Marner
- Nylander
- Rielly

These other players are there to create space for them, keep the game even and let them find a way to win it. Sure, bottom 6 will pitch in there and there, but we will go as far as those 5 take us. You can throw in Freddy too I guess.

Agreed 100%.

This is going to be an extremely opinionated take. But IMO, if we don't make it out of the North. And especially if we lose in the 1st round again, Dubas and Shanny really need to consider the re tooling option.

I'd sooner re-tool management.

And then the team.

Yikes.

Regardless of what you think about Campbell, you're not gonna win many games scoring only 2 goals. Holtby was great, but we whiffed on a ton of chances in tight

As people mentioned it seems like the Leafs lack consistent finish even when they have great scoring chances. I look at the Bruins and guys like Pastrnak and Marchand who have skill and finesse and can seem to convert on their scoring chances much better than we can. With all our skill players we should be able to do the same.
