Mitch deserves it all tonight, everything. Also true 34 deserves every bit as well, riding on his best shot in the league and zero desire or jam every single time we need it. The guy has the physical frame a Marner can never have and yet he can never elevate when it matters. He’s soft as shit, he doesn’t have another gear.

Marner was already checked out before puck drop. He was expecting the crowd to move Florida players so he wouldn’t have to show effort

I think I'm done being a hardcore fan. I was going to stop if they lost in the first round but this is essentially the same thing

There is no point watching this team for 70+ games, following the daily lines, deadline rumours etc. Just a waste of time when they do the same shit over and over again
Just tune in for the playoffs. This season I think I watched one regular season game. Maybe just catching the teams bug. I think I'll fade away in the playoffs too.
At least this year the round one thing changed.

I get that the core deserves their criticism but like McCabe is a disaster and that's not on them. or at the very least he and Brodie bring out the absolute worst in one another. OT icing cycle started with them turning a routine pre-breakout D to D pass sequence into a fight along the boards to get it past our blueline. it happened over and over.
They have 0 goals in 3 games

They get all the blame

Just really disappointed in the boys, thought they had more in them.

It's not contract negotiation time yet, where players like Marner, Matthews and Willy will fight to the death...they showed their true colours during those contract negotiations...hated the way they behaved in those negotiations, bending the organization over while having achieved nothing, while players like Brayden Point took a bridge deal on the cheap so that he could help his team win...karma is back to bite these guys in their a55es, and they only have themselves to blame.

we have been here for all of it, preseason, all 82, and all playoffs, I might skip game 4....
Yup, it sucks a lot. There's a fair amount of us on here who really love the team and follow everything they do. Sucks all we get for it is embarrassing losses year after year

yep we were pumped with him all season, but this all but seals the deal for me with Mitch, he is a heck of a talent, but do go dry like this when the tough gets going, it gives me a sour taste

We are still winning this series
This guy I like.

Toronto hasn't won more than 2 rounds since expansion. Every other original 6 team has been to the finals between 5 and 10 times. Maybe it's the pressure of the biggest hockey market in the world, who knows.
At least 35 of those years are write offs between Ballard and the Pension Fund. Haven’t really been in a position to succeed for most of it.

MLSE at this point is all in at least. There is hope.
Please tell me which play stood out to you, that you thought was a missed call ? Referees were actually great tonight, if anything they missed two penalties on us late in this game before OT started. Leafs played like a bunch of f***ing p***yes, scared to go to the net, scared to battle for pucks, you're not getting a call sissy footing around the boards all game.
I thought we’d get an even up call, you expect one. And they would have, it usually comes from hemming a team in for a minute or so, eventually someone holds or hooks and gives the refs a reasons.

It never happened. I agree, never saw a point where they hand us one.
at the end of the day, the panthers are better than the leafs.

It’s hard to beat a better team.
No they aren’t.
Marner might have been our worst forward tonight.
Wow it was weird eh? I mean, he was a turnover waiting to happen. Beyond the whole lose to go down 3-0 thing, it was the most depressing part of the game.
They’ll win Wednesday and Friday and we’ll all get excited then lose game 6

I expect game 6 almost automatically too. Might as well hope

Seems like an excuse for top guys who haven't even been able to make basic plays.

Matthews and Marner have played together consistently for 7 years. They are just playing poorly for whatever reason and they alone are responsible for that.

Now this is a team that could easily rattle off 4 straight and make a historic comeback, but it starts with the guys up top.
Good point. Round 1 was great but something is a bit off with those 2 and Nylander as well. He was not up to his level this series. Makes me wonder if ditching a few friends for more talented players got into the psyche of our players.

Also , as I have complained about in the past , we need more from our captain. Not just the personality thing either. I'm sorry but our 10 million dollar captain should do more for the team than do well at faceoffs , make a few nice plays downlow rack up a few easy points and play subpar defensively and physically. He doesn't have the intangibles or the playing style to be a captain IMO. Give Matthews the C all day and take another run next year.

Toronto (NHL Season)
1. Crazy much worse our lines looked collectively without Knies.
2. f*** Wes McCauley. NHL is a joke for employing a guy so long who clearly has it out for any team
3. In lieu of the above we lost cause our own doing. All I can say is one big Sigh. I’m ok with whatever trades/firing (unless they reverse sweep)

It's easy to say that now, but I'm sure we're in store for an another amazing season with this core led by future coaching legend Sheldon Keefe. Hopefully Dubas can really nail down the perfect mix of bottom 6 players to bring us the cup!

That’s on Keefe for not being able to adjust

I'm not advocating either way, but he's owed 8 mill/year in real money for 2 more years. If I'm a bottom team with capspace and on the rise I would be over the moon to add Tavares for free for 2 years. You either move on when you have to give other guys new contracts or re-up him for cheaper.

He's definitely not on a value contract, but he's still a #1C.

Imagine CBJ adding a #1C for free? They haven't been able to get one in forever. You're telling me they wouldn't take him for free or even pay to get him?
He's not a #1

Really unfortunate that losing the series like that is going to completely destroy the accomplishment of getting out of the first round. Completely embarrassing.
