Mitch deserves it all tonight, everything. Also true 34 deserves every bit as well, riding on his best shot in the league and zero desire or jam every single time we need it. The guy has the physical frame a Marner can never have and yet he can never elevate when it matters. He’s soft as shit, he doesn’t have another gear.

This series, yes. Although he was really good against Tampa and single handedly won us the 4:5 game

Matthews-Marner line did nothing all game or the top 6 tbh and not 1 change of lines.
They didn't do nothing.

They turned the puck over on a lazy dump-in that resulted in Sammy's injury, Schenn's penalty, and Florida's first goal.
They got hemmed in their end (with help from JT) for Florida's second goal.

Maybe giving literal children tens of millions of dollars before they earned it was a bad idea. But then again you have McDavid so I donno.

McDavid took a discount and committed 8 years with the Oilers, while Matthews took a premium and only signed for 5 years because he wanted more money than McDavid when he becomes a UFA.

The biggest issue with this team is not that they lose but HOW they lose.

Then they sit at the table and handcuff us with these huge contracts.
Get the feeling this year is kinda like ENOUGH for most fans

well there is plenty to go round and McCabe cost a lot and every potential breakout and offensive possession dies on his stick. and he also can't defend.
Even so the games were all within reach had our “”””star”””” players done anything

4-2, 3-2, 3-2

We get 1 goal a game from them and we win at least 1 game and another is in OT

Ya im pissed about the loss but I'm also just flabbergasted at the lack of effort and passion...
They are better than this and they know they are but I have no f***ing clue what it is that just blocks them up as soon as the regular season is over...
We need grit with talent going forward, f*** this floating around energy.
If I see one more standing still one handed pokecheck, I'm gonna end up on the news....

Playing Matt Murray in game 4 and him having a bad game would be the poetic way to end the season.
I was fantasizing on the couch about us winning this game in OT than Murray coming in for game 4 and playing lights out and leading us to the conference finals with his veteran savvy. But we'll never know now.

I've been one of the very patient fans who even after last year wanted to run it back without major changes, but at this point how can anyone be upset at the idea of starting over again? The leafs actually regressed this year and looked worse against Tampa than they did last year and outplayed Tampa in only one of the six games. This team just doesn't work.

If Arizona is willing to give you a big haul for Matthews that includes Cooley + a couple decent young players you absolutely do it especially if you're able to find a team that will give you a good return for

In a way it’s good - I’m going to a tropical island paradise next weekend to snorkel and fish, where data and Wi-Fi are spotty so I don’t want to worry about trying to catch a stream.

But on the other would it kill Mitch and Matthews to show up a little?

Someone needs to go this summer, yeah won da first round and all but there’s something rotten at the core of this group.
My liver is happy they're almost done.

Sportsnet needs game 5 back in Toronto to help pay for their billion dollar broadcasting fee. :laugh:Man they screwed up. They assumed Matthews would bring deep playoff runs and Stanley cups into the Toronto market.
Everybody involved in that debacle is long gone, running other businesses into the toilet

Honestly, at this point there's not much to lose with the starting Murray. If he leads to a miracle the team ends up in the second round, if he plays well for a couple games and they still lose, he potentially ups, his trade value, and if he flops nothing really changes.

It's easy to say that now, but I'm sure we're in store for an another amazing season with this core led by future coaching legend Sheldon Keefe. Hopefully Dubas can really nail down the perfect mix of bottom 6 players to bring us the cup!
I must say, I'm very excited for the post-season press conference where Dubas will inevitably attempt to spin this as a step in the right direction

I remember listening to Crosby and MacKinnon on the Chiclets podcasts a couple of years ago. A couple of weeks later I heard Matthews. I really got this casual "frat boy" vibe from him. Sid and Nate sounded like winners, Auston sounded like he was a kid who didn't have a care in the world.
