i honestly think it does.
i personally would have more respect for them if they were more open and honest. as it is right now it's too "meh. these things happen. next year is better"
Maybe but for the most part it's just your old and tired hockey cliches. "This is a different team", "we were only focused on tonight", etc..

Well. Just quickly watched the game before work. Not angry, just depressed. I don't need much from the Leafs, just stop breaking my heart.

Oh for sure. Those players contracts on him, but weren't those grit players supposed to give us life when things aren't clicking?

this team just got its ass handed to them by a "gritty" team with hardly any skill. NYI is in the 2nd round and made the conference finals last season

Dubas f***ing SUCKS and should be fired! Guy has no clue how to build a successful hockey club.

The so called "skill" that Avs/Boston/Canes have do not play like wimps. they play the board and play hard. Try acting smart with Mack and he will knock your teeth in and then score a goal on you.

Do you even f***ing know what it is to create space by laying body checks? Does it even compute for your how space is made in the playoffs when neutral zone is clogged?

get away from playstation and real hockey is not the same as EA SPorts

nope. For sure there have been crappy individual games.

but not a 9 period collapse against the worst qualifying playoff team in hockey.
11 periods due to OT, lol.

I am with you, this 1St round exit is different and I see changes are coming

With the teams going back to their regular divisions, I have a hard time seeing the leafs make the playoffs. Even though the panthers lost to tampa, they atleast played them really hard. Unlike this pos team.
This. Boston and co will eat these p***yes alive.

When we had big, tough Babcock and Lou the team played the same way; no forecheck, no hitting. SOMEONE in the front office keeps pushing for this no-contact bullshit, and I don't think it's Dubas... Unless you think Lou and Babcock would be taking orders from him as an Assistant GM...

I think they been coached esp the core before the interview. Campbell is the only one who showed any sort of emotions.
To be honest, Campbell either come back broken and struggle next season or he is going to be a top 5-10 goalie in the league bc I really believe he will work on his game and get better. Unlike someone who still can’t shoot after being in the league for 5 years and being paid the 7th highest salary in the league.

Heard Dubas chose Simmonds over Perry who begged to be a Lead at 2x the cost. I still can't believe it.

Simmonds worse than 16 with zero goals in his last 25 playoff games. #fireDUBAS.
And if so we had Perry JT wouldn’t have missed a game!

Uh, the fact that before this whole "Lou is leaving Toronto" discussion even happened, the Islanders hired his son and there were whispers that Lou wanted out of his contract so he could go work with his son?
If Lou wanted out it was because he saw the writing on the wall -- that the Leafs considered Dubas their wonderkid moving forward and that he was about to take his job. Lou is an architect, meaning he wants total control of how the whole thing is built -- from the foundation through the final pieces -- and he never had that power with Dubas in Shanny's ear.

Lou is an intelligent man, he knew with Dubas learning on the job, it was a matter of time before the Leafs needed to commit to him or risk losing him to another franchise. Dubas was Shanny's guy the whole time. Shanny invested time and resources into grooming him and he wasn't about to let another club steal him away -- Lou knew this.

Shanny made his decision and ultimately Dubas was handed the keys. His first big move was firing a future Hall of Fame coach with tenure and a Cup so he could bring in his pal from the AHL.

Shanny, Lou, Babcock, Hunter, Dubas... too many cooks in the kitchen. Too many big personalities and egos. Now it's just Shanny and his boy Dubas.

That’s is something I agree with you. Bc Nick, Simmonds, Muzzin and even Thornton plus Clifford and Martin usually play with an edge and fight but somehow they lose all toughness playing for the Leafs.

Marner for Jones for starters... You can't go into next season the same, I'd refuse to watch, already not going to pay a cent to watch, nhl has robbed us enough with this fools team.

And fire PP coach, he is absolute trash, and Keefe should go with him, Dubas potentially aswell now.

No drastic changes and I'm out as a fan, not getting dumbied outta my time for yet another season, and nothing with this core is going to get it done.

Yes! Jesus, great point. Dubas looks intelligent with his smart outfit and thick glasses and strong public speaking - but his degree is half gym half business. I'd be shocked if he took more than one stats course or any advanced maths.
Has he even laid a heavy hit in hockey? Sterile mgt.

During Babcock/Lou era our roster had JVR, Bozak, Kapanen, and the same core we have now. We had Boyle one season and Plakanec the other season - other than that it was the same team.

I dont think we've ever had the personnel to do that.

Tannenbaum was still part owner of MLSE franchise when Tucker/Domi played.

Marner and Matthews will look back and realize they ruined their own chances of winning by signing the contracts they did. It’s just never going to work.

LOL!

You think those two guys care about winning more than those billion-dollar contracts they signed?

Joke's on you bud

and it's on everyone who doesn't get it yet

Then perhaps you'd like to explain why the Leafs sign guys like Komarov, Martin, Muzzin, etc., and they seem to forget how to hit and play their games on the way to Toronto? Or with Komarov, forgot at some point?

While I think there should be changes to the core, can you really expect it without changes to upper management? Dubas has previously said he isn’t trading Willy. Shanahan had this to say a few months ago about Mitch:

“People focus on his assists and his scoring, but he's already become probably one of our most threatening and effective penalty killers. He just cares a lot. This is a guy that I hope plays his entire career in Toronto and if he does, I have no doubt he will bring us success and I have no doubt that he's going to have a statue outside of the arena one day."

How ready is management to take a hard look in the mirror and to make the courageous decisions needed to try and bring change and playoff success?

Mitch Marner and Matthews will retire and no one will remember them

They are going to have 0 legacy if they can't fix their playoff issues.

Both have to sacrifice if they're back next year and stop being so selfish
