Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes. Leafs have to get those mistakes out of their game.
On the first goal, Rielly stopped playing when he thought the puck went out, he was pointing in the air like a caveman pointing at a comet, Sens got the puck back, had sustained pressure, we took a PIM as a result of that sustained pressure. Kampft's stick broke, he for some god unknow reason went for a stick replacement when the puck was still deep in our zone and the Sens had possession. Multiple mistake's that led to that goal.
Second goal - stretch pass where Benoit loses body position on Amadio, Meyers looses coverage on his guy in the corner and Leafs allow a cross crease pass, 3 Leafs players should/could have blocked the cross crease pass. Mistake, mistake, mistake.
This team over the last month+ has looked a heck of a lot like the failed Leafs playoff teams. Lacking detail in their game. Soft defensive play. Scrambly, panic play with the puck. Not purposeful.
I go back to the question I've been asking since December, where is Berube's system of tight checking, playing as one unit. We know what his system looks like, we played his Blues and that team although they lacked top end skill all played as one unit. Come to think of it he had Billington, who had to stand on his head most nights to give the team a chance. Maybe Berube's system is to hope a goalie gets out of this world hot and ride that to a championship? I'm already on the dump Berube train, he's had 50 games to establish his system and it is non existent, where is coach Q?
