It's a stupid goal, but a better question is why can't Leafs score more than one against a goalie who is barely hanging on in the NHL?

Honestly no issues with loss. We played well. They were depleted. Ottawa got a fluke goal.

This is not the Pacific division. Atlantic is full of really good teams. It's hard every night (that's what she said).

I hate those losses where the team is flat and no effort is shown. This loss is meh. Move on.

Berube must be disappointed that he coaches a team that couldn’t get up for Saturday night game in Ottawa and when the game was in their reach couldn’t muster enough to give a push in a rivalry game. Matthews and Marner had that game 7 look on their faces.

He did? He did it once to Marner and then apologized to him. The odd time he did it to nylander but Keefe never held the stars responsible. He walked back any criticism he directed at them.

Matthews Marner and nylander have been running this team since Babcock got fired. Babcock is the only one that held them accountable. He did some garbage stuff while here but he’s been right about the core whether anyone wants to admit it or not.

Considering how useless most players are without a stick I don't think it's necessarily a bad play when it's the short change and they are holding a stick out for you.

I had to go back and rewatch the other goal - Marner was in position to block the cross crease pass (and partly did), but who were the other two? Woll was the only one who might have and it had been deflected by then.

When you don't have a stick you go to the most dangerous player and stick to him like glue, take him out of the play as much as you can, in Kampft's case, he made it 4 on 2 vs, if he had of picked up a player the would have made it 3 on 2. Far too much ice when it is 4 on 3, when you make it 4 on 2 you are almost guaranteeing a goal.

You have to keep in mind whenever we play them they're bringing their A++ game. They do a lot worse on a normal Senators night.

Yes, it's like every other NHL team, beating the Leafs is their Stanley Cup !!!

There are also TOO MANY Toronto area players on every NHL team that play their very best game against our Leafs. They know that all of their family and friends are at SBP or are watching on TV.

Our Leaf players don't seem to be able to keep up with the HIGH INTENSITY on display by opponents from Ontario.

All that just to admit what I said in my original post? Like I said, at least he had the balls to do it. He also benched more than just those 2. I remember a game where he benched the 1st line power play because of their unproductive play. At least he tried to hold them accountable. Nylander always seemed to play better when he got into his lazy ruts and got sat for a few shifts. It's business as usual with Berube, the players know it and play accordingly.

It all starts with Myers pushing to the boards for no reason. Marner does cover him but once Myers does that. It’s a scramble for evetry one else to cover a man.

Fans thought Berube was the second coming of Christ

Former player …former tough guy….Who has a growl and supposedly because of those traits he was going to add toughness and accountability to the players.

Instead …the product is boring too watch. The players brought in still haven’t added accountability or toughness to the locker room. The team still comes out flat .

Maybe it wasn’t all Keefers fault.

The team struggles to score more now than ever. The back 6 still sucks. The D is improved but Rielly is still lost and ruins any partner he has.

Any team can beat us because that’s the style we play. Playing not to lose will never win you important games and just makes skilled players hate your system more.

Been said before. Hard to put a square peg in a round hole.

I thought players added was going to add the passion. Guess Reaves music and antics before the game isn’t working to “pump” the players up. We been told that’s his greatest trait as his on ice performance is brutal.

So what’s next? Domi is still a black hole with the others in bottom six. We still can’t generate any offence from the back end as players like Benoit etc best outlet pass is off the boards.

The hope is that this style will succeed in the playoffs where the rules change. Harder to get open ice with interference isn’t called. Crosschecks become the norm on any puck battle etc.

The game then will even played more in the middle of the ice which fits Berube scheme.

Better hope our goalies are hot

Keefer teams at least we’re fun to watch during the regular season.

Just have to wait to the playoffs to see if this all works out.

I have not heard any of the post-game media. I figured this was what he would say. I have no doubt he believes it as well.

HDCF were 12-8 for the Leafs. Doubt Berube even knows that. That was the 9th highest HDCF this season. XGF% was also 62.3. Man, I can hardly remember any tough saves by the Sens goalie... maybe I fell asleep (I didn't).

I don't know how people can watch that and think it was anything but mediocre. Defensively it was fine, sure... but we've seen this many times before. When this group commits to defence, they cannot score enough to win. Didn't they go like 7 games in a row scoring 2 goals or less in the playoffs? All that while playing similar defence to what we see from this group now.

This group is too easy to defend because they have little desire to go to the dirty areas with any sort of consistency and are not able to pass through the defence to generate changes outside 1 or 2 guys. They are more than happy to pass it around the outside.

Look at the Sens winning goal from last night... just garbage with people going to the net.

The other issue besides how much cap they committed to 4 guys is our draft picks besides Knies haven’t come through and contributed. Would have been nice if one of them helped contribute to top 4 dman or serviceable third liner.

This is the point we could use a third line center on ELC or top 4 dman to help add for playoff push.

The notion that when opposition has essentially kept 34-16 quiet continue to roll with the same duo is quite frankly stupid. Florida series should have been enough of a lesson for everyone, especially 34 and 16 who should take some responsibility given their AAV that when together they are not doing anything they should themselves take the initiative to play on different lines

its about the team and team culture. wearing letters means leading from the front and doing things differently when things aren't working and 34-16 should be the ones leading this change right from the get go.
