Fowler and JVR are pretty much a wash value wise....so if taking garbage cap is "the price to acquire Fowler", then i would decline. If Fowler were RHD...maybe, but he is pretty much the same type as Rielly/Gardiner, so i'm not sure why we'd trade our 1LW for him.

What do you mean by this? LHD? Besides the fact that they can skate, they're very different defensemen.

Fowler has got to be the most overrated D in the league, all offense.

Take it for what its worth.

Ducks would be lucky to get either JVR or Tatar straight up.

Hmm yet ducks have won 4 straight division titles with Fowler consistently playing some of the hardest minutes, especially over the last 2 or 3. how can they be so good with such an awful player as their 1st or 2nd best dman during that entire span

You have to remember...

Fowler is overated
Vatanen is overated
Lindholm Is overated

Our goalies are average at best(tho now that Andersen left Anaheim he is top 10ish)

the team was carried by our selke nominated center ryan kesler... who is also overated I might add and on the decline.

I think I summed up the ducks the last 4-5 years.

Heard that Lou wont do a JVR for Fowler swap. He's not interested in moving JVR.

And honestly, that's probably going to make a deal easier for the Ducks. I think there are other pieces that may make sense more for them than JVR does. I think the Ducks will likely put more emphasis on clearing salary and getting futures over getting the best player they can out of the deal. With guys like Lindholm and Rakell that still need new contracts likely costing around 8 mil, the Ducks need to find a way to fit that into their budget.

Hero charts completely ignore deployment, quality of competition and quality of teammates. Without context they're completely useless.

Fowler did a pretty damn good job carrying around Kevin Bieksa last year. If the Ducks do end up moving Fowler, they're going to notice it.

Yeah i thought like Detroit the Leafs need more or less RHD help not more LHD. Can't really see this making sense for the Leafs.

This is why I think Despres may be getting more play than people realize. Despres can get the Ducks a pretty good return where they won't feel it with someone like Manson and Montour moving their way up.

How good is Fowler realistically? A 2,3 or 4? Obviously don't watch Ducks games so I wouldn't know.

Taking the obvious guys like Nylander Marner and Matthews out... that leaves guys like Bracco, brown, kapanen few other decent prospects I wouldn't mind having. I think JvR makes the most sense if were trying to win a championship but part of me feels like were trying to keep the team competitive. Personally I like bracco brown and kapanen, but they are much less valuable then fowler, so its hard to find an add that makes sense.

I think the Add to any 1 of those 3 is torontos 1st(I assume protected), cant see Toronto wanting to move their first.

Man I hate thiese "I know it's EK" posts, but Eklund knows nothing and is not an insider. Things are slow... "Let's post something leafs related". The Leafs aren't getting Fowler, it'll cost more than they want to give.

He's not as good as ducks fans claim and he's not as bad as other fans claim. He's a 2nd pairing guy forced to often play above he should but this doesn't make him a top pairing guy.

i keep saying that if the ducks trade fowler they are going to really miss him when he's gone, it's unfortunate our GM is completely unable to bring in any top 6 forwards and thus we have to move fowler or one of our D prospects to accomplish it....

He's a no.2 dman and has been for a while, nobody can counter my points about the ducks record with him playing so high in their lineup on a consistent basis.
