Problem is, you can do the same thing with Tavares. He is always in the middle of the ice. Marner always looks pass, and teams have figured that out. Tavares can make space for himself and has great hands. If you get it to him, he can get a great chance.
Which is why Marner needs to improve his shot. He is a better playmaker than Nylander, but because Nylander can shoot, teams can't just expect pass every time. With Marner, you can bet on pass and you will rarely, if ever, get burned by his shot. Nor his speed, because Marner is not fast either. You will get burned by his passes, but if you can at least prevent clean passes, then your chances are much better.
