He is still on a line with one of Tavares or Matthews, and they are often open.
The main time he is alone is when his linemates are changing, and usually his solution for that is trying to deke through 3 guys.
Matthews and Marner does not mesh well.
Matthews is much better with Nylander.
Babcock was right not playing Matthews and Marner together, other than the power play.
Matthews always heads to the center of the slot or thereabouts. Marner will be along the sides or near the boards most of the time. Cover one guy here, cover the other guy there, and that is it. That is why they do not create much together, and they won't, not together that is.
Their tendencies in the offensive zone is kind of obvious.
