I've been saying this the last few seasons for the most part. Dubas has been shuffling deck chairs the past 3 or 4 years adding different support players, energy players, grit, role players etc. But the one thing that has remained the same was the core and their inability to show up and play with a consistent playoff gear. We've had Matthews, Marner and Tavares all become complete ghosts at times as well as our goalies not making simple routine saves in game 7s. Marner also has looked like he's playing scared in some series.

I dont see much fault in Keefe either. More so the players not getting their shit together and show some balls.
Let’s bear in mind they are just becoming men. People expect immediate dividends.

On a scale of 1-10. Dubas gets a 9. The picks hurt. But man this improves our bottom six soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I'm making a drink. GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I felt our bottom six was not contender team quality. It was lacking. Now we are looking much better there and on fo and pk.

Or how you feel about taking both Tampa and Boston through to the finals with what we have now?

Does ROR/Acciari really move that needle against both?

Maybe one, but both is still dicey and both of those teams haven't made their deadline moves either...
Good thing we took Ror off the market then. He looks exactly as move Bs would do. So we kind of weaken our opponents too all in one move.

I'm not sure the Bruins at least, need to make a much of a move.

Sometimes you can overdo it at the deadline and ruin what's working: see Florida

Florida was going to lose regardless, they played 0 defense and it caught up to them

That was a hell of a series, don't know what you thought, but it was very contested and entertaining.

I'll admit they probably would have lost after that just based on attrition alone.

Tampa-Florida? There were 2 close games but for the most part Tampa was never in any danger, they knew Florida had big holes and would make mistakes they could capitalize on. And they did, time and time again (biggest example being game 2)

I've found the Tampa/Florida series (both of them) overrated in general. They've had some good individual games, for example game 1 in 2021, but the overall series has always been Tampa firmly commanding it and Florida chasing. The 2 teams weren't close

very steep price but both forwards will help . don't know why Dubas was floating he wouldn't trade a 1st for a rental but i guess he just can't just shut the f*** up

A reporter made a point to say they woke up in St. Lou, played a game in Toronto and then went to bed in Chicago. The amount of miles on those two guys in a 12 hour period, crazy.

St Louis to Toronto - 1220 km
Toronto to Chicago - 838 km
Chicago to Buffalo - 861 km

Dudes are going to have about 3,000 km traveled and two games played in less than 36 hours.

Get Pat Kane and Korpisalo cheap if Murray can be put on LTIR for the rest of the season.

Bunts Matty Willie
15/19 Tavares Marner
Engvall ROR Kane
15/19 Kampf 52

ZAR

Tampa's third line did us in last year. Hopefully, Ryan and Noel tip the balance. We are a deeper team now with terrific center depth

Or...

He said that as a negotiating tactic by stating that to the media.

I swear some people see Dubas is younger than them/not the traditional looking NHL GM and look for any reason to complain. There's a reason nobody pays you for your hockey insight.

Would you prefer the Brian Burke "we're not offersheeting players" and then pay more than RFA value for Kessel?

What about Burke in 09 stating he wanted to move up to pick Tavares, and never did?

Dubas getting ROR is a huge move, the fact we also got Acciari, it’s changed the complete complexion of our forward group, even quantifying we’re 17 percent different now. Getting the two players, who add so much grit and moxy, suddenly we look scary in new and exciting ways. What a fantastic trade, just confining yourself to the roster as it sits today vs Thursday.

This may well be the most impactful move Dubas has made.
