His career is OVER. COOKED. The man just turned 32 so naturally, it's over for him.

Meanwhile, Boston is currently rolling with a soon to be 37 year old David Krejci as 2nd line C.

I know this is a good trade because all of the wrong people dislike it.

In the post you replied to you made the correlation between age and being over cooked, not me. That's poor reading comprehension, that is on you. So thank you, you made my point even more succent with your comparison between two veteran 2nd line centers. The fact ROR has done ZERO this year to make his team better and Krejci has been everything and more and his team is rolling would FURTHER underline ROR is on the decline, cooked, well past his best before date. BTW most players start to statically decline around the age of 27, ROR has been on the decline since...drum roll... 27ish years old ... if you don't believe me you can google it, there are two detailed articles on the first page, that go in depth about when NHL players skills start to decline.

Do we all forget about the Buffalo ROR?

To those who say we gave up too much… I’m curious who they have slotted in for our pick 25-30 next year?

Since coming back from injury:

Blues go 3-0 against the Yotes, Panthers, Devils.

5v5:
ROR leads all Blues forwards in icetime.
PPG

xGF%: 65.67

Hyped to see him tonight!
My original post in this thread expressed how I haven't been this excited to watch a regular season game in a long time lol.

Really expecting the team to be amped and play well tonight.

What‘s the Leafs’ face-off win percentage? Whatever it is, it’s going up.

I think you're underrated Kampf a bit. I understand the sentiment of the post though and agree.

It's amazing to think that we have Kampf as our 4C. He's a good 3C and an amazing 4C. Going to have 4 very productive lines when running ROR at C or we use Kampf at 3C when they want ROR to beef up the top 6 as a winger.

The depth is incredible.
Hasn't Kampf not scored in like 25 games or something? I wana like the guy but he's gotta get going

If they could add a Nick Paul type forward with the addition of ROR and Accari + the pending call up of Knies...their roster will be plenty playoff ready.

I know kerfoots numbers are better…probably due to ice time and deployment etc and he’s a great PK but I still like goldberg aka holmberg over him. Kids a gamer and can probably 3C in the future, I want him in the bottom 6 every night for us. He isn’t that physical but his positioning is top tier and he’s smart. A shutdown line of kampf holmberg and whoever would be solid.

Trade kerfoot who has 0 jam for soucy or someone similar. We have no use for kerfooots in the playoffs and he costs 3.5

'In the air' as in flying?
Yes sir finally a game to look forward to

keefe just said in his presser that both players are "insisting" on playing tonight and are in the air as we speak. im super stoked about this trade.

edit: hmm clearly i was a little late posting this lol.

Kyle showing Auston we’re serious about winning the Cup before he resigns him to an 8 year deal.

Only way this trade has any value

1) Matthews, Nylander, Marner all re-sign given that management has always bet on them not only in terms of dollars but futures as well. 8 yr deals

OR

2) Leafs win the Cup this season

If neither 1) or 2) come to pass and Dubas is still around this franchise that would be absolutely horrible

Yea, this is why we got him for so CHEAP actually.

A recent suspected blocked shot foot injury probably brought his value down a bit (although these are almost never nagging) plus being one of the most unlucky players in the league on a bad Blues team this year was the perfect storm to pick up a playoff warrior like him (went PPG just last playoffs) with Acciari (by far the forward hits leader with the Blues) and at 75%! retention leaving room for yet another big move.

Couple of fun facts.

Ozone starts this year among all 153 centers with 500+ 5v5 minutes:

O'Reilly: 32.78% (9th fewest in the NHL)

Despite being buried in Dzone starts and facing among the highest QoC among centers (the matchup guy against the other teams best players night in night out) as well, he still holds a +3.87 xGF% REL....plus hes an elite faceoff guy.

I dont think people realize he's actually been quite good this season with the double whammy of being unlucky on a bad team.

Just compare Tarasenko to him. 63.74% zone starts (highest on the blues) and -.89 xGF% REL.

Exactly the guy I wanted this season and somehow theres room for another piece.

I was dreading a Kane trade overpay but feel really good now. Anyone who want more bottom 6 jam and playoff-winning pedigree should be very happy. Love we got them early too so we can develop chemistry before the playoffs.

Acciari 5v5 numbers:

oZone starts: 35.92%
xGF% REL: +1.40
Hits/60: 14.8 (9th highest of all 284 forwards with more than 500+ minutes this season)

Toronto really targeted the two guys playing the hardest minutes on the Blues, and doing it well.
Thanks for these posts, if I could like them I would. Assuming ROR recovers completely from the injury, he's the guy I though would be ideal for us (OK maybe Toews also) but since Dubas said he's not trading a 1st for a rental, this comes as a huge surprise. Just found out about this now so my first thoughts:

I wanted to add 2 bottom 6 forwards with physicality and grit (I thought we could do that without trading a 1st or a top prospect), this is even better than that, just wow!

Gave up a 1st. Don't like that at all but ... if it's true that ROR chose us, maybe we can resign him and if we can, losing the 1st isn't such a big deal.

Gave up a 1st. What I do like about that is that Dubas is capable of doing the unexpected, never a bad thing.

In the end it all comes down to results. If we go deep, good trade. If we go out in the 1st round, huge disaster. If we go out in the 2nd round, still a disaster.

I guess all things considered, I'll say I like it. I didn't want to trade top futures but ... the possibility of resigning ROR helps assuage my pain here as well. Main reason is that this group of guys, and especially this core has no more excuses. TB is a fantastic team but if ROR finds his form, he's such a huge add and if we still can't beat TB, well than it's time to try something else. So if it all goes to hell, do we blame Dubas because he doesn't know how to build a winner? I don't think so, I think we blame the players and it'll be up to Dubas (or his replacement) to decide which players are the problem. I mean who the hell can look at this roster and say Dubas doesn't know how to build a winner. Same core sure, but a completely revamped (and massively improved) defence, and now this trade fills the one weak spot we had.

It's also time for this group to get their shit together. The last game was an absolute disgrace. With the playoffs less than 2 months away, the time for pond hockey should be long past and it's time to tighten up, play a 200 ft game (assuming you know how) and develop good habits so that we're 100% ready for the first round. Hopefully ROR takes on a leadership role and everyone listens to him. JT's a good captain but ROR has been there and won the cup so when he talks, everyone should shut up and listen.

OK that's it for the negativity. We got freaking ROR, your post makes a good argument that he is still really, really good, his injury is such that he should recover completely so it's not another Foligno type situation. We'll probably make another add as well but even if we don't, this team on paper is freaking stacked, even more so than in previous years. Now it's time to see if they can do what they have been unable to do up to this point - get it done on the ice.

Of course we still need to hope that the goaltending holds up, that's always the biggest thing. GLG!!

The excitement to be here is very pleasing.
ROR has been a difference maker in the past. At 32 he should still have some jam and more smarts.
It looks like his production this year is a product of his linemates struggling as he still creating lots of chances. I would like to see him with Matthews and Nylander as they both are top level finishers

Just saw the trade for the 1st time. First thought is a little worrying. Huge amount to give up for a old rental having a down season regardless of the retention. Has a bit of Foligno fibes.

That being said if he returns to form the leafs center depth is obscene. Big risk, Kyle pushes the chips in it seems. Let's hope they make it past the first round or he is 100% fired.

Also with all that retention it makes you wonder if Muzzin is going to make a return before the playoffs or the leafs have another move in the works. Don't see why you retain that much otherwise
