They don't have any assets anyways.

The trades last year emptied their cupboard and they lost a ton of their playoff role players.

They will be facing a better Leafs team than last season too.

Given the way Matthews’ season has gone thus far, am a bit skeptical. Unless Matthews heats up…

JFresh is a statistician

He's actually siding with the Leafs here
The image he shared was not from him, but from someone on HF spouting out made up numbers to make the trade look worse

He's mocking those made up stats as insane

I meant the dude who originally posted it on the mains

Only way this trade has any value

1) Matthews, Nylander, Marner all re-sign given that management has always bet on them not only in terms of dollars but futures as well. 8 yr deals

OR

2) Leafs win the Cup this season

If neither 1) or 2) come to pass and Dubas is still around this franchise that would be absolutely horrible
I know you are tongue in cheek BUT

I think there are a few more possibilities of value.

ROR resigns
Arracci is a fit and resigns
Leafs win a round and ROR teaches Mitch and Auston how to win in the playoffs
If my enjoyment level goes up watching the team
If the rest of the team is further motivated due to the improved opportunity presented
If the Leafs feel they can move a depth player to improve due to this transaction
OR if it forces the opposition into paying prices they didnt want to pay for rentals.

I have a few more but that is good for starters.

Off topic a bit but I love how I barely ever go on the main board (did for the ROR trade) and was good about it... then get chirped by a random person and I make a good point... because they're just trolling... then... all of a sudden their profile is gone lol... so they blocked me?

Main HF boards are brutal... and this person is saying how I love staying in my own echo on the Leaf boards lol. Clearly never been on the Leaf boards much.
They really shouldn't allow pre-pubescents to have accounts, but hey, what can ya do?

Yea, nagging injuries the season have played a role in that but I think the slight knee sprain was good for him in the sense it helped with his other issues.

Still, 26 goals and 55 points in 48 games with 53% faceoff and +22 (tied for 7th in the league for forwards with Bergeron) while playing through stuff isnt as bad as it looks right?

He's certainly capable of all of sudden going on a tear if hes feeling great (1+1 first game back)

This is not really like the Foligno trade at all, he was actually a lot closer to Acciari than ROR. It's more like Giordano, where it's a formerly elite player who's now "just" very good. Except a younger and more versatile player
This seems spot on to me.

Regular season Vs Playoff hockey is always different

in regular season players get some shit teams; lots of time and space; in playoffs its less and less. Hoping Matthews' injury niggles are behind him because Leafs need him the most

There could be a multitude of things that could happen.
At a minimum they'll recover some picks before the draft.

I mean Foligno was healthy when traded to us and then his back exploded like 3 games into his time here and he wasn't able to really recover from it until this season. ROR broke his foot and is back and healthy.
I believe Foligno was picking up quite a few injuries in the year or two before he was traded. Let's hope ROR foot was bugging him before he broke it as his stat line doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Not like he will play with better players here at 5 on 5.

40 games
12 goals
7 assists

5 on 5 stats from NaturalStat:
49% CF%
49% SF%
37% GF%
50% xG%
52% HDCF%
34% HDGF%

However he has seen some defensive usage so that will effect these stats. In addition he is having his worst PDO season of his career. Whether that is bad luck or his influence on shooting percentage and goalie save percentage has gotten worse is impossible to know.

Stats seem to say he is getting caved in at 5 on 5 in actual goals scored but largely is unlucky and should be closer to 50% GF%, HDGF% if his line was shooting better or their goalies saving more.pucks as indicated by his CF%, SF%, xG% which coverage around 50%

Edit: took a looks at relative stats and seems to be doing way way worse than teammates in GF% and HDGF% but better for CF% etc. Points further to him taking tough matchups getting caved in actual goals but keeping his head above water in predicted shots/goals. However the super low GF% and PDO while his teammates have a far better GF% points at it being less about the goalies playing bad and maybe the opponents getting good looks when ROR is playing.

Leafs make a blockbuster. Campbell and the Oil blow a 4-1 lead. What more fun do you need on a Friday night?
If you're talking the Rags game, it was pure fire, totally playoff hockey with lots of grind and the blue paint was no mans land

I really miss Zach, I really do, he constantly pays the price and comes back for more.
