2023 1st round pick (TOR)
2023 3rd round pick (OTT)
2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
2025 4th round pick (TOR)

Also if people think dumping 3-5 picks every year to fix previous mistakes & at the deadline is some master stroke by Dubas they're fooling themselves.
You got it. For 75% retention and 50% retention, and more bullets left in the chamber for more moves.

And we get a strawman argument added on for effect!!

Here's a crash course. Teams in contention trade picks for players to bolster their lineup. Teams rebuilding do not.

There, now that this is cleared up, you can stop polluting this thread with posts that apply for every contender.

What board do you belong to again?

If by meh ever since you mean really good, and unlucky/on a bad team this year, then yes.

First, I clearly didn't take a strong position on this so take it for what it's worth. Second, are these the kind of numbers that traditionally garner a 1st and a 2nd which are probably the parts given up for his portion of the trade? The only thing that would make it worthwhile are intangibles like grit and if he can be a shutdown guy since he will almost certainly be on the 3rd line. Time will tell.

So if the Leafs don't have something, are you just going to give up and throw in the towel? Or are you going to work to acquire it?

Gee the Leafs are missing an element while owning a few of the better players in the league. Let's just give up.

So does ROR get time on the 1st PP unit in the net front/bumper spot? Who gets moved down if he does.
He’s money there. I wonder if they go back to 5 forwards for a few games to test it out.
Otherwise 2nd PP is probably where he goes. Who knows in the playoffs, Keefe is going to test things out here for a while, seems like he likes to have everyone get a look in different situations.

We should just give up. Why even bother playing. Geeze. 1st round exits. Sheesh, losers.

Wasting our time cheering and watching this team. It's impossible.
No I actually think they have a legit shot this year if Dubas goes “all in”. Need to add another dman. But it doesn’t change the fact that he has tried and failed to build a playoff winning team

in a full PP stack, gotta be bunting

I think they can run 2 really good PPs now.

#1 has Matthews, ROR, Nylander, Bunting, Rielly
#2 has Tavares, Marner, Jarnkrok, Engvall, Sandin

Or mix those players how you want.

Small fun fact
ROR brought the Stanley Cup to his Grandmothers LTC home in Chesley Ontario.
Back to Ontario where his roots are might help with a value resign.

I wonder if we could take the $$$ we were going to offer Bunting to sign ROR for similar?

This type of injury could be sustained by anyone, and look at recent history:

Played nearly all the games, the shortened seasons he played all. Other than this year looks like 5 missed games in 5 seasons.

While the team did not say exactly when or how the injury happened, O'Reilly blocked a shot during a penalty kill in the second period of the contest against Minnesota. He took a slap shot off the ankle from Wild defenseman Calen Addison and appeared to be hobbled as a result.

This team has nothing worth celebrating. I blame Dubas.
Yep, I mean......Colorado should never have bothered playing or adding at the deadline last year.since TB had won the previous 2 cups, so that means TB goes on forever winning.

That's how things work, right?

Sadly, the post quality in here at times is far less than our team's quality.

Love this deal!

Spent picks to go for it now. That a boy Dubas!!

Immediate improvement on depth.

Bet our GM isn't done either 😁
I guess the 24 and 25 1sts are still there to be dealt away before he leaves. Lol!

The we have to win a round narrative is particularly sad, win a round big whup.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

..but then again Dubas would have no way of knowing what happens when you trade a 1st rounder for a player with rapidly declining skills. Absolutely stupid trade.

I guess Dubas needed someone to push up his LTIR for the rest of the season.

Folks if you think you are getting Stanley Cup MVP ROR, reset your expectations to 15 notches lower. ROR career is over cooked.

His career is OVER. COOKED. The man just turned 32 so naturally, it's over for him.

Meanwhile, Boston is currently rolling with a soon to be 37 year old David Krejci as 2nd line C.

I know this is a good trade because all of the wrong people dislike it.

Meier is not a rental. He’s RFA so still under team control.
I know he is RFA. I should clarify what I meant by rental. Chances of the Leafs keeping Meier beyond this season are extremely remote so they probably would have to move him in the summer. So, in essence, he's a rental.

I think this is fine.

Probably speaks to the cost of someone like Meier. ROR and Acciari will both slot if nicely. Strengthens the middle of the ice. Moves Kampf down. If ROR works out probably a decent chance he'll resign at a good price to see our his career close to home. I'm most happy Knies is still here and can probably play this spring for us too.
