Yes this suggests we might not be done.Cap retention is important for fitting under the cap .. and also leaving space for other additions.
Means a lot more then you’re implying

I think we’ll re-sign O’Reilly as well. Dubas mentioned he didn’t want to give up a 1st or top prospects for a pure rental.I think it’s very likely they extend ROR, if you can move out Kerfoot and Engvall you have money for ROR and an ELC replacement.
It's good to give O'Reilly some wingers that can really skate tbh. Keefoot might find some offense playing with a better centre other than Kampf. The question is RORs health but otherwise this is an ideal transaction. We don’t dip into out top prospects and move a late first and draft capital. We pay < 2m and acquire an ideal bottom 6er in acciari (been wanting him since Boston days). Need to give to get.
I think the comparison to Foligno is slightly skewed given the accolades and playoff success that pair with ROR. Need to flip Kerfoot for something and get something for the back end.
To me the forward group looks like:
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Orielly - Kerfoot
ZAR - Kampf - Acciari
Kerfoot is redundant now that we have two quality pkers who are built for the postseason. Quite honestly he doesn’t fit anywhere.
Could see it at some point. Probably more likely you see ROR take shifts on the wing at times as well.Love to see people’s thoughts on lines. Any chance Tavares moves to the wing?
They can still get him though the have to deal with Nur-Sultan Barys in the KHL for the player. He is no longer Carolina property.I guess they didn’t want Jeremy Bracco.
Technically yes at double retention, but we'd either have to waive some depth or trade someone out at the same time.@Dekes For Days I like this move. Can we still get Kane?
Even though he has been benched/pressboxed for taking too many ill timed penalties, I still would have asked Minny about Ryan Hartman.By trading them a draft pick! Also it’s clear Minnesota will be sellers now.

More tough to play against if they can get him to toe the company line.
Gaudette is a former Hobey Baker winner with good speed. Leafs have called up approx 5 AHL forwards but not him yet.BTW, how are Abrams and Gaudette? Are they reasonable for depth call ups or destined to stay as trade pieces in the minors?
Well a good many of his chips. There are a good number left too. He does what he thinks will help the team.Dubas has pushed in his chips. Does he make this trade if he is not a lame duck GM ??
I hate giving up 4 picks but I do like the players but would have been hesitant to make this move given we have to go through Tampa and Boston just to get out of the Atlantic.
We now need to get by Tampa (minimum) or Dubas and Keefe are done. Shanny probably stays to pick up the pieces.

At this point it has to be a serious run or cup or this move might be Foligno 2.0 if they do not resign both.Great trade for the leafs. Really solidified our centre depth and our bottom six. Still has wiggle room to make another trade or two for a defenceman or winger or both.
As for the picks and futures, they can trade all their picks for the next few drafts for all I care as long as that means a serious playoff run or possibly a cup.
