Try again about what? It's my opinion that I don't like this trade. Are you suggesting I should be a drone and just fall in with the rest of the crowd and not have an opinion? One of the worse +/- is now on the Leafs. If you take a look at his underlying stats they have been on a steady decline for 4 to 5 years now.

I get it ROR has name value, people blindly get excited when you pick up a guy with a bunch of hype and history around him but take a second and LOOK at what we are actually getting. An over cooked, injury prone, rapidly aging veteran, that barely has the wheels to keep up. It was a stupid trade 6 hours ago and it will be stupid trade in 6 weeks.
He was PPG in the playoffs last season and the analytics say he is still creating chances but they aren’t being converted by his line mates and is still strong defensively.
No one thinks he is the player he was 3 or 4 years ago but we aren’t going to be asking him to either.
We are bringing him in to be a 3rd line centre that can win defensive match ups and provide depth scoring and veteran leadership.

He will play wing with JT and Willie, Accairi will be 3rd or 4th centre.
As I have said, if Kampf is your 4th center you have a real team
Now maybe we have someone who will slap Bunting and get his antics under control.
Nothing worse on a team than a loud mouth chirper who runs away. The other team gets emotion and you have to defend him fir no reason.

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the short term rental of a third line centre who has less than 20 points so far this year…. I don’t know about this one.

If anything, it shows that Dubas’ job is on the line.

Whoh, what a trade to wake up too! Love ROR, we have the best center depth in the league now. Kampf in the fourth hole is where he belongs and our bottom six is suddenly serviceable. Acciari brings the grit too. BIG ticket if he’s a rental, but we are all in now, let’s go!!

I don’t really love this the more I look at it.

I mean what’s Meier going to cost more? Unless we know we can get o rielly signed but

1 2 3 4 is a pretty good start for a player with term.

Have to digest this one, but at a glance we made a serious change to bottom six.

O'Reilly health concerns me, but a healthy version of that player ticks a lot of boxes, and you've got to show your core guys that you're giving them the best chance possible to win.

Didn't want to spend a first round pick on a rental but this could be the exception. Like that it's done ahead of the madness of the TDL.
His health was a broken bone in his foot. It has already healed

Trades at/near the deadline are only ever worth it if you win the cup. Odds are it will be a “bad trade” in that respect (we gave up a lot of future), but odds are lower to win the cup if you don’t make this trade.

I see the Foligno trade comparison worries. I believe he was coming off an injury(“upper body”) as ROR is (broken foot), but the back injury he later incurred, for Foligno, rendered him useless. These are the risks with older players. But where else do you get recent Conn Smyth, Selke cup Stanley Cup winners?

A foot injury is different than a back injury obviously.

“I was just dealing with a really bad back injury that was debilitating,” Foligno said. “There was nerve pain. Shut down my whole right leg. It was really disappointing that happened at the time it happened. Anything else you can play through a lot of times. This I couldn’t.” -Foligno

O’Reilly broke his foot blocking a shot on Dec 31. He returned to practice on the 9th at which time he was skating for 3 days. That put him just barely at 5 weeks before he returned. It’s only been a week since then (3 games) Did the Blues rush him back for trade showcase reasons? Leafs would be wise to ease him in both in ice time and utilization. He’s a big investment, last thing you need is him blocking a shot on the PK and off he goes again.

I have no doubt that ROR is what they needed to get. Along with Acciari, that experience lets you rely less on guys like Holmberg or Anderson (as much as I like them) in intense playoff battles. I think his foot will still slow him down for a few weeks, but it will get better, unlike Foligno’s back.

Acciari is a good depth player.

Starts a ton in the defensive zone, literally never turns the puck over (only 6 giveaways in total, 3 in dzone), blocks a ton of shots, will drop the gloves if needed and is one of the most physical players in the league (10th ranked in total hits).

This is the kind of 4th line warrior type you need in your lineup to win potentially 4 tough playoff series.

I think Meier costs Knies as well as the first, plus a 2nd or 3rd for the retention.

Regardless of how anyone feels about Dubas, I am sure he checked in kn the price of Meier.

Acciari is probably worth a 4th (maybe 3rd). So, they gave up a 1st and a 2nd for ROR. Unless he’s dynamite in the playoffs, that’s bad

But gotta win a series and this should give them a good chance vs Tampa
That's only part of it.

It cost a 1st and 2nd to get a double retained ROR with a $1.875 million cap hit instead of $7.5 million.

Hats off for Dubas. I would have made this trade 100% of the time. Depth is definitely stronger and gives a LW option on the 2nd when needed. Up and down this lineup, this team would have pushed the leafs over against Tampa last year...no doubt. Biggest risk now is goaltending health, Holl and Keefe personel decisions (which include Holl). My confidence level has risen a lot.

I can rationalize why they made this trade. Can’t help but think if Dubas had a contract in his pocket, he wouldn’t have made this trade. He’s got nothing to lose with it. They get bounced round 1, the picks mean nothing to him because he’ll be unemployed. Upper management put him in this position making him a lame duck.

Those assets used on Timo made more sense to me. They could have judged everyone’s performance and either traded Timo in the offseason or Willy to recoup assets.

Exactly what we need, some pizazz in the bottom six, non vanilla, tough, hard player.

I cannot wait for the egg on face posts from those whose first and only reaction is negative because of who engineered the trade, instead of grading the trade on how it helps the team.

It's so mind-numbingly obvious.
Yup, it is per usual.

Kampf hasn’t scored since December 8. Over 2 months. He needs to wake up!
