Confirmed with Link: Leafs have acquired Ryan O’Reilly, Noel Acciari & Josh Pillar in a three-team trade with STL and MIN

Is this the newest narrative of the whiners? You are as welcome to your opinions as everyone else on the board. Other posters can agree, disagree or think your opinion is utter nonsense. You can do the same thing with the opinions of others.

Do we think he does t view this as a rental? I thought we weren’t doing rentals for 1sts. Dubas rarely lies if ever
 
So I'm guessing RoR slots in as third line center.

Anyone else amped for the Leafs next game? I haven't benn this excited for a regular season game in a long time

Crazy to see leafs fans underestimate the lightning. Leafs are probably better down the middle but TB wins the goalie battle and it’s not even close and they also win on D.

Don’t send me the “yea but leafs are top 5 on D this year and the xGA….” Playoffs are different whether you want to admit it or not and tb have better D for the playoffs and it’s not that close.

Many Leafs fans are excited with the trade. Everyone of us will know the it will be a tough series.

Yeah, the trade was just last night. Fans are excited. It will almost certainly make the Leafs better. Unless, of course if he really doesn't have anything left which is possible but not very probable.

O’Reilly has never been a particularly good skater, but his effort level and anticipation allow him to be very effective. Skating in a skills competition isn’t the same as hunting a loose puck or back checking in a game.

I’ve said for a long time that it would hard to actually acquire an upgrade on Kampf and push him to the 4th line, but O’Reilly does exactly that. He may no longer be the #1 center he once was, but he’s still a good #2.

People shouldn’t sleep on Acciari either. He’s a very good addition.

I still think we need a better 2nd line LWer and an upgrade on defense, but this trade addresses a lot of issues with not only the talent of the bottom 6, but the style as well.

This was an interesting excellent trade.

Hopefully he brings his mom's character with him, character is something this team lacks.

If they can avoid going 7, don’t forget the Leafs made Vas look pedestrian last year.

Acciari is probably worth a 4th (maybe 3rd). So, they gave up a 1st and a 2nd for ROR. Unless he’s dynamite in the playoffs, that’s bad

But gotta win a series and this should give them a good chance vs Tampa
 
ROR and Acciari are exactly the type of players this team needs now. A playoff performer with pedigree and an excellent bottom 6er who hits I understand there is some risk but we have to take a shot now. Meier would have cost us a lot more and still be a rental. Now we have something left to go after a dman with snarl. Great job thus far by Dubas.

Hopefully he skates faster than Tavares. Trade had to be done if they have the chance to win. Not a fan of the trade, but prove me wrong ROR

Meier is not a rental. He’s RFA so still under team control.

I posted several times that O'Reilly is the forward I thought the team would target. O'Reilly is competitive and defensively competitive but clean. But the price paid is crazy high considering that he may not be 100% healthy. There must have been a major bidding war over the player. If he does what I think he can do for this team, a veteran solid 3rd line center with more leadership, he could pull our perennial playoff losers deep into the playoffs for the first time in over 2 decades and save a few front office jobs.

Comments on the content of the trade: how come the Leafs never get this kind of haul for their fading vets? Take note that the team's prospect list was barely touched.
