Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

..but then again Dubas would have no way of knowing what happens when you trade a 1st rounder for a player with rapidly declining skills. Absolutely stupid trade.

I guess Dubas needed someone to push up his LTIR for the rest of the season.

Folks if you think you are getting Stanley Cup MVP ROR, reset your expectations to 15 notches lower. ROR career is over cooked.
LOL.

One really has to have a narrative to push if they hate this deal.

This literally makes the Leafs C depth the envy of the NHL.

You do realize he was brought in as a #3C, and he's all of 7 months older than Jarnkrok.

Care to try again?

Try again about what? It's my opinion that I don't like this trade. Are you suggesting I should be a drone and just fall in with the rest of the crowd and not have an opinion? One of the worse +/- is now on the Leafs. If you take a look at his underlying stats they have been on a steady decline for 4 to 5 years now.

I get it ROR has name value, people blindly get excited when you pick up a guy with a bunch of hype and history around him but take a second and LOOK at what we are actually getting. An over cooked, injury prone, rapidly aging veteran, that barely has the wheels to keep up. It was a stupid trade 6 hours ago and it will be stupid trade in 6 weeks.

ROR is exactly the type of gritty two-way playoff warrior this team needs more of.

In saying that, i do think we're paying a premium for past success here. Ignore the name on the back of the jersey, and consider his decling point totals last year (factoring in that scoring is up league wide and that 58 points last year is probably about the equivalent of ~50 points from 5 years ago) and then 19 points in 40 games to start this year. If compare what we just gave up to what other teams paid last year for say Lehkonen, Rakell, Copp, etc, or what the Rangers gave up for Tarasenko, I'd say the price we paid only really makes sense if we're getting the ~60-70 point ROR of old.

In saying that, if we re-sign him to a reasonable veteran deal and have our 3rd line solidified going forward, I'll feel better about it. And that's also just complaining about the price paid - I'm still excited for the player and the playoffs.

No one said you couldn't have an opinion, were just saying it's an ignorant one. Even if ROR is only a 3c, he's the best 3c league wide by a mile.

ROR is the right kind of player to pick up. He has credibility, leadership and a track record of performance when it matters most. Another captain with pedigree. It has to rub off on the others.

Also, if you are going to overpay for the push as all teams do when they are contenders, it is wise to get 75% of the salary paid and have another player thrown in who could have an impact. Dubas did that here by picking of Accari too.

Now in a.couple of weeks Dubas still has some room for a upgrade or two if players are moved off of the roster. At worst, players will be moving around. It still could get nteresting at the deadline. You can never have enough physical D for instance.

There is no time like the present.for this team.

Right tell me a little about this years version of ROR and why we should be excited.

Perhaps it's the 13 hits gets you all worked up , for a player knowns as a tough in your face physical forward, kinda underwhelming eh?

Perhaps his elite face off prowess gets you all worked up, 54% you say? That puts him behind Elite face off men like Lars Eller, Patrick Brown and Kevin Stenlund... MMMMMM can you taste the ELITENESS.... ELITE!!!

All I'm saying, which you have a problem with, is he is NOT the ROR from 4 years abo, we are not getting the Conn Smythe ROR, we are getting a version of him that has considerably less value.

What I'm saying is Leaf fans tend to have an ability to blindly hop on that hype train, apparently yourself included, just love the awww golly shucks awesome, out of any new toy we get, and then cry like a 2 year old child who lost his binky when that shiny new toy turns out to be less than the next coming of Wayne Gretzky.

LIke seriously you are getting all defensive about a 3RD LINE declining skills forward. On a positive side Accari is a great 4th line pick up.

There are better ways to get across your point than coming out of the gate like an angry guard dog shot out his kennel. If your looking for a mutual agreement, perhaps try the approach where you look for an agreement on one small point and then work on it from there, if you want to start a childish pissing contest then carry on as you have been.

I listened to what you had to say, I have to say I'm not swayed to retract what I said. The fact remains neither you nor I have a definitive reason for his down year so I guess it is a wait and see approach.

Only cheerleaders welcome on this forum. That's what it's become

Yup, the you must at all costs assimilate to the Borg mentality that permeates this society it's truly sad. If you don't agree with the crowd, you are labeled a whiner. Must ..... fit.... in... this .. category ... can't .... function .... without ... labeling .... everyone...

What would be fun, is if for one day, just one day people who had dissenting opinions .. were asked, not attacked ... for why they had that opinion... I remember a day long ago where people who could grow beard, pretended to behave like adults... now... not so much... it's kindergarten time in the HF Forums again.

So you aggressively come at me, I ask you why you have such a strong opinion and you are not able to support your strong opinion with any quantifiable facts? Bravo! Well played!!! So my opinion is stupid because it does not align with your opinion, which is super awesome, your opinion that is not based in anything but a warm fuzzy feeling? WARM FUZZY FEELING FTW!!!!

Tell us you don't watch O'Reilly without telling us why don't ya. Bring up a players +/- stat when they are on a shit team. Is Kyrou a shit player as well being a -22? Injury Prone? You sure about that? This was the 1st year he's missed games since 2018 where he missed 1 game that year and missed 11 this year. Missing 12 games in his last 6 seasons I don't think gives you the injury prone reputation that you say he is. Then you say he doesn't have the wheels to keep up but you would know that he does if you watched him at all, but you've made it very obvious you haven't.

Lol just as you can have an opinion everyone else can tell your your opinion is, in their opinion, terrible.

Wasn't my top choice. Maybe he was injured but he's looked cooked this season whenever I watched him. Hopefully it works out.
