With Dubas saying he wouldn’t trade a 1st for a pure rental, does this suggest ROR may have an extension lined up?

The trade, I am super iffy about tbh extension or not. I also don’t see ROR taking a team friendly deal. This honestly has Foligno vibes all around it again.
If there's one thing I haven't seen Dubas been accused of it's being a liar. I'm expecting an extension unless we somehow just win the cup then IDGAF

Maybe. I also think Dubas is the kind of guy who doesn't let anyone besides his guys know what he's really thinking.

So, you're saying we are all in? Nod & Wink!!

If ever there was a guy who could muster up a goal in a game 7...

Add in Knies as an option and things are looking at least better.

Fckn team, always dragging me in. GLG!

Love successful savvy vets that can score in so many ways and can play the game in so many ways ….

Points are great and all, but he’s really the type of defensive player the Leafs have been lacking for years. In that regard I’m happy, but the price is still questionable IMHO. It is more of an indication of what’s left on the market and probably Dubas than RORs current value for the rest of the year and a playoff run. The Tarasenko trade would have been a better option IMO. Mikkola would have fit a need and the price is better.

Might not mean a whole lot, but what I like a lot about this deal is it gives the Leafs a leader who is very intense. Leafs leadership core seems to be more laid back in their role and not as "in your face" as the likes of a Mackinnon for example.

ROR absolutely hates to lose and makes it well known

And on cue...Dubas gambles the future in a hail mary to save his job.

He has no other play though. Shanny let him stick around to make this gamble.

i love O'Reily. But a few years late as usual from Dbas. Just like Simmonds.

Kerfoot either gets dealt or shifts to the wing I guess? Is RoR here for the long term or is this another Foligno shit burger?
I was hoping for small moves like some winger with grit, like another Bunting...or a defenceman with grit like a younger Gio.

Another center for the third line is a bit of an over pay. He's going to play what? 12 min if that a game? Because you had better f***ing be leaning on Matthews now to eat 24 min a game if you are about to pay that kid 15M a season. And JT takes up about 15 min. So the left overs of 5v5 isn't going to be that much for RoR.

Maybe he can kill penalties or something? I dunno. Not the piece I was hoping for. It's a steep price for some leadership in the playoffs to teach these kids how to win a cup.

I wish I had your old job.

I'm into economics/sales/forecasting/data-analytics/supply-chain now but if I could do it with hockey, that'd be pure joy.

Totally different animal ultimately; what I will say is the key is balancing one with the other. Anyone who strays too far to either side misses the big picture.

Plus, on the hockey side, you get a bunch of wingnuts who don't understand how proper analytics and quantitiative analysis works but just parrot websites without understanding the math behind it.
