Sorry if its been addressed 12 pages is a lot of reading. Anyone know how long we have Acciari for?

I'm not much of a roulette guy myself.

But this is the type of management we seem to always see in Toronto.

Bullish on the quick-fix option, bear on the long-option, oh not that bear...that's the one we did...so that's OK...but now we're back to it not being a great option anymore.....

Come on.

Let's call it for what it is.

A gamble.
Would you have rathered we did nothing? This is what contenders do. Pay picks to get better now. It is what it is.

Accari in no way, shape or form should take Engvall or Kerfoots spot. This trade likely pushes Holmberg (sad) out of the lineup. My guess on Monday:

Bunting-Matthews-N/M
Kerfoot-Tavares-N/M
Engvall-O'Reilly-Jarnkrok
Accari-Kampf-ZAR

We're a better team today. If ROR is anywhere near what he was last year we're an even more ridiculous team.
The beauty of having ROR/Kampf as your bottom 6 centers is you don't need to worry about anyone you play them with. ZAR instead of Holmberg would be pretty tough to swallow frankly. Although, they probably are going to save a spot for Knies.

As far as Holmberg goes, Keefe also seems to really value him as a safe player in his own right. ZAR really has nothing over him

What I saw against a playoff team like the Leafs is more telling than what he did against the Senators.

His team was greatly outclassed against the Leafs. He can only do so much on this own. I wouldn’t read too much into things. He had 92 points just last season when he still actually had linemates who are NHLers

Thanks Bert.

Let's see both sides of this.

It's not a win until it's shown to be.

For now, we just chipped a chunk of the future away and we're going to see how it works out for us...

The unfortunate cost of trying to win now. If the Leafs' had any semblance of playoff success we would probably be a lot more bullish on this trade.

It definitely is what it is,

A gamble.

If we go through to the finals, I'd considered it a worthy expenditure.

Anything short, I'm sorry, then it should have been directed towards the inevitable weak-point we'll look to in hindsight or foresight for the more clairvoyant types (goaltending or defence)...

Murray's been moved to LTIR. Simmonds and Holmberg have been sent down. We actually have 4.4 million in cap room right now with a 23 man roster of (just listing players line the players up wherever you wish)

Bunting Matthews Nylander
ROR Tavares Marner
Kerfoot Acciari Jarnkrok
ZAR Kampf Engvall
Anderson

Rielly Brodie
Gio Holl
Sandin Liljegren
Benn Timmins

Samsonov
Woll

That will all be eaten up by Murray when they activate unless he ends up on Robidas Island.

Murray is on IR, I think.

I think ideally 1 more trade is made with Kerfoot + Prospect being the main piece for a Lw such as Kane. Now look:

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Kane-Tavares-Marner
Engvall-ROR-Jarnkrok
ZAR-Kampf-Acciari

Doesn't get much better than that.

Matthews looks like ass some nights too, you don't make declarations like this based on one game

on top of that, Kane doesn't have much of a team around him

Basically a 3 line slide. Any of top 3 C/LW/RW can be mixed around

Yeah so I just completely disagree with you on what is the inevitable weak point of this team. The defense atleast. The goaltending is what it is and likely no realistic way of improving it.

The cost to make his cap hit fit ( we have less than $1m in cap space) negates his potential 'new team' bump. He's either unmotivated cause he wanted to go to NY and play with Panarin or he's hurt, either way there's little chance we give up anything of subsequence to get him.

IF that were to go down, I’d go:

Bunting - Matthews - Kane
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
Knies - ROR - Nylander
ZAR/Envgall/Holmberg - Kampf - Acciari

Off topic a bit but I love how I barely ever go on the main board (did for the ROR trade) and was good about it... then get chirped by a random person and I make a good point... because they're just trolling... then... all of a sudden their profile is gone lol... so they blocked me?

Main HF boards are brutal... and this person is saying how I love staying in my own echo on the Leaf boards lol. Clearly never been on the Leaf boards much.

Well, that wasn’t really the discussion. I don’t entirely agree or disagree with that
