Dubas is all in on making a run this year. ROR was a player I desperately wanted. A 2 way force down the middle. Will make Matthew's and Tavares life way easier taking the tough matchups and is a proven playoff performer. The picks are a lot to give up but our window is now. I like Timo Meier as a player but we needed a player who's play style is like Ryan O'Reilly.

Jesus, we certainly aren't going to die wondering
This is a home rum type hack

It's a lot to give up but we have to try winning while our boys are still on there current deals because we've got some big pay rises coming shortly

I'm not sure ROR is worth it considering how he's played this season but I'm not going to complain, sometimes you just have to say **** it and embrace the risk and hope you get the right hand

The last thing I need to see about an incoming player is that he's unlucky. Like, we're the god damn definition of it.

Let's never post about a player being unlucky again, please. It gives me nightmares.

I had it similar but:

Holmberg - ROR - Jarnkrok
Engvall - Kampf - Acciari

I don’t think anyone can justify sitting Holmberg for ZAR

It will eventually be Holmberg vs. Knies for me too.

Anderson may end up getting moved if the Leafs want a cheap depth defenseman upgrade on Benn or someone gives up a pick for him. Or he ends up on waivers and I can see him getting claimed. Would be a solid depth upgrade for a number of competitive teams or a worthwhile bet for rebuilding teams.

ZAR can just sit as the 13th and Simmonds will hopefully never plays a game again... But each time I say that, he plays another game and generally sucks.

I love the line-up flexibility he creates. He can play LW with Matthews, can center Tavares moving JT to wing, or he can be a 3rd line match-up guy when needed. Provides a good playoff resume, is probably hyped to be here, and we didn't have to give up Knies, Liljegren or Sandin. The Atlantic is still a blood bath, but we got some more ammunition.

Picks acan also turn into Bigg's, or Bracco's or Korshkov's.....

They're a low percentage mystery boxes that means more to rebuilding teams

They gave up a 1st, 2nd, and a 4th round pick...

How is that a "low percentage mystery box"?

We hear all the time about how "2nd's are the same as 1st's" when Kyle Dubas makes a Mrazek trade right?

He gave up two of those for rentals..

Also heard that same "mystery box" narrative used when Burke traded two 1st's and a 2nd for Phil Kessel, but I digress...the point is it's so cliché and a poor way to describe draft capital.

Better hope it actually works to some degree this time.

He did the same with Foligno and Muzzin and both flopped completely.

I really think that the winner this year is the team that gets out of the Atlantic. This is a good start but if we're spending to get ROR we might as well go for it all and trade Kerfoot to create cap space and whatever else it takes to get another big piece.

Parade route has been planned

At this stage with the core, the draft picks (especially those more than a year out) mean very little in terms of value to the franchise if they were to keep them.

Basically it’s all in while guys like Matthews, Marner, and Nylander are under contract.

Keeping our current prospects that can make an impact as early as late this season and into next year is what is most important and so far Dubas has done that.

So much for not trading the 1st for a rental I guess. That's more than I'm comfortable giving up for a rental who just came back from injury. We're absolutely a better team today, I guess time will tell if it's enough to be worth it

They absolutely mean something to this team's long-term potential.

I am playing some devil's advocate here, I'd like to have a look at ROR on this squad, let me posit that.
