While I'm kind of rolling my eyes at the 5'9 on Blackwell's stats sheet, I'm also looking at our fourth line and thinking this is a real nice depth pickup. He puts up 3rd line offense, and our fourth line has been ineffective for a while now.

You'll like Blackwell if you like Bunting. He's someone I was hoping Dubas would get since his Nashville days.

He doesn't play 5'9" though. I think he will be liked.

We need size and toughness!

Chiarot, Deslauriers

for

1st, 3rd, 4th, Hirvonen

vs

Get the best players at the best price

Gio, Blackwell

for 2nd, 2nd, Dermott

I know which I'd choose.

Two 2nds is still an overpay for Giordano, especially when Lindholm was had for a 1st and two 2nds
And two roster players. The difference between lindholm and Gio isn’t a 1st and 2 roster players. That contract is going to look ugly as early as a couple seasons from now.

Seems like these Anaheim Dmen are really overrated around here. Wouldn't shock me if Lindholm bounces back somewhat under Cassidy, but he was for sure declining in Anaheim

Yeah. Lindholm has always been good defensively, but he's trended down for years. Lucky for Boston, they're the best defensive team in the league so he should be a great fit there. Giordano is as EW said the 2nd most valuable defensive player ever by their xGAR stat behind only Hjalmarsson. He's still fantastic defensively against tough comp, but he's not on that level anymore. He's still a top-4 defenseman easily, and better overall than Lindholm, and ESPECIALLY Chiarot, who both were traded for a lot more.

Yeah even one for one I'd take Giordano. Add in Vaakanainen, the first round pick, the big Lindholm extension, and Blackwell going the other way makes it not close. I can't imagine complaining about making this trade instead of the Lindholm one
Lindholm is a better player than Gio he will be moving forward on tbe Bruins

We got Gio at a good price but your going to be surprised once Lindholm recovers to his usual elite defensive self under Bostons strong system.

So is Blackwell playing on our 2nd line wing? If the post I read above that says he's not much of a 4th line guy that would be the only other spot that'd make sense right?
He's avgd 12:29 this year with PKs, although he's been playing 15+ over his last 5 games(showcasing?), I'm seeing either 3rd LW or 4C depending on need doesn't seem to have the hands to play higher up full time. Looks like he skates well, avg speed edges OK. Looks pretty strong on his stick and on the boards

Lilly will be a lot better playing next to Gio.

When all the Dmen are healthy, I can actually see
Reilly-Bear(Ozone pair)
Muz-Holl(3rd pairing)
Gio-TJ(shut down pair)

That’s a pretty good D pairings.

SCOUTING REPORT
Can play a wide variety of role at lower levels, which adds to his overall value for the National Hockey League. Despite a lack of optimum size, he competes for every puck and wins his fair share of battles on the ice. Can play both center and wing. Is pretty decent on face-offs. Lacks elite puck skills and offensive acumen, reducing him to a role player at the highest level.

Long Range Potential: Versatile depth forward.

Lindholm is a comparable to Reilly, it'll look no worse than that contract.

Giordano is nowhere near either of them
