Two second rounders isn't too bad if there's two players. Gio for a 2nd + value, Blackwell for the remaining value. It's a pricey rental, but Gio is a top4 defenseman and Blackwell looks like a quality bottom sixer. It does a great job addressing depth at both forward and defense, and at a cheaper price then Ben freaking Chiarot. I'm not overly excited about spending draft capital on rentals, but if we're going to do rentals this is what I want them to look like.

We now have one Draft pick in this years Draft.

No second or third next year.

If the Leafs go out in round 1 again, Dubas will have done absolutely immense damage to the Leafs.

We still have our 7th as well. Therefore, all is good.

I live on the west coast and don’t need to stay up late to watch all the different teams. Even I had to, there are countless people who watch the leafs and other hockey at all different times around the world.
Who cares about winning a 6 team cup 55 years ago? It’s great history, but what does it have to do eith anything today?
Now that explains your position. West coast says it all.
54 yrs says fans know how to love players, not a team. I could care less the name of players until they win something, or give their life trying. You play the game to win as a GM, not try.

Doubt you'd find any GM in the league who'd agree with that. Maybe they oughta listen to the bar graph reading fans online some more.
I'm sure Dubas would. We will see how it turns out. I'm hopeful, as always.

I would've rather paid that price for Lindholm vs this price for Giordano, extension or not

I wouldn't pay all that for a rental in Lindholm without an extension, but the Leafs are not in position to sign Lindholm long term.

Dubas made a "save my job" deal.

The value is good but I doubt these two are going to be enough to push this team out of the division. If Campbell comes back and plays to the level we've seen earlier this year right through the playoffs, maybe. But considering he's a question mark and there are no other options in net available that look like anything more than lateral moves, another gamble based on faith in his core and little more.
