Mariner did go a little wide, but they're defending in a diamond, as soon as marner and Mathews switch, Reilly has to cover middle of the ice.

Diamond? It's man on man and there can't be a diamond with only 3 skaters...

Anyways, doesn't matter. Leafs beat themselves, but anybody that doesn't feel better about this team now compared to a week ago is kidding themselves. Clean up the brain farts and get another defenseman if Muzzin isn't coming back to push Sandin/Holl to #7.

such a talented but frequently braindead team. the latter outweighs the former in the games that matter.

It’s telling they never go on long winning steaks despite all the talent (talking 7+ games) like other contenders. The brain farts and inconsistency effort wise have always prevented that.

Rielly still has no idea how to play a 2 on 1 lmao. Engvall is hot garbage as per usual. The guy just doesn't seem to care. Always skating around, but never actually looks engaged while on the ice.

Sorry I mean triangle. Reilly has to defend the middle. There's no man on man there, his man wasn't even in the play.

They got outshot by 11, and it took an OT goal against the third string Leafs goalie to see the end result.

They earned the win, but was hardly a decisive effort
Right but they earned the win…….that’s what the best teams do, find a way to win
instead we found a way to lose a game we should have won

What's frustrating about fire drill Rielly is even though Liljegren made two boneheaded mistakes that cost two goals against, he still looked like the less panicked between the two.

Rielly is just running around out there on defensive coverage like he has no idea where to go, and on a 2 on 1 he wants to do everything.

Very Leafy game. Play very well, dominate offensively at times, but just make mental mistakes that allows teams to stay in the game, come back, or win. Every goal against was a mental mistake made.

5/6 points against the likes of Boston/Carolina/Vegas seems like a good outcome, but it still doesn't quite make up for 1/6 from Montreal/Arizona/Anaheim
It doesn't, but we are on an upswing compared to the tire fire of last week. Lots of season to go!
You wouldn’t be on the ice for me Brotha sorry
Completely wrong on that particular play

Well I hope not, I can only skate in a straight line and stop 50% of the time!
