Pretty decent hockey game tonight. Bounces didn't go our way and we lost on stinkers, but it was an interesting game and some of our younger players looked really good. Team looked fine tbh, escape a bad luck night against a tough opponent (Vegas is a wagon rn) with a point.

Had fun watching tonight, hoping all the drama of the early season is behind us. We are the Leafs and the season is an 82 game roller coaster, but this was one of the fun parts. Liljegren looked terrific.

Only D on the ice and he's up on the far side of the rink at leafs blue line while vegas is on leafs side of neutral. No idea what he's thinking there.

Once again, there's really no defense for 3 on 3... it's just man on man and if you're guy is further up you follow him so that when he comes at you one on one you're not flat footed.

he's the defenseman, it's literally his man.

yup. There was more than enough time to reset from the turnover. Rielly literally just stood there and waved his stick. Marner can’t be excused either; he was ready to blow the zone instead of supporting defensively.

It was a clusterf*** all around.

5-(6?) game point streak though. Could be worse.

Also I should be a lot more pissed right now I feel. The beers have done their job well.

Trade him and get something for him because he’s not going to be here for his next contract so get something while he’s worth something and we can get something else for him that’s going to try to win
Matthews is weird this year. It looks like he's still trying, but he just hasn't been the game commanding presence we've seen in the past. I thought he was inching his way to McDavid territory last year, but this year he's not in the same realm.

It's man on man, not zone coverage. Rielly was staying near his man while Marner completely goofed and was nowhere near any Golden Knight player let alone the guy he was supposed to be covering.

Mariner did go a little wide, but they're defending in a diamond, as soon as marner and Mathews switch, Reilly has to cover middle of the ice.

Well we had some good games in this stretch, so lots of positives to build off of, frustrating to lose one you should have had but oh well, regroup, move on.

I still don't see this team going deep this post season as is, changes are needed. I truly hope Samsonovs injury whatever it is isn't bad or this team is DOA.

Hung with them pretty well considering we're running an AHL goalie. But I do agree, this was a good measuring stick, it always is against Vegas. This leafs team is not a cup contender. The bottom 6 is just not good enough. Vegas has depth everywhere on that roster.
You are right that our bottom six cannot hang with the good teams.
as far as running with an AHL goalie that also plays to zero depth of goaltending

3 on 3 is very situational. At times it's absolutely man on man. Other times you need to read the play and put yourself in the best position to neutralize the attack if you can't be right on your man. Mo was not close enough to his man or in a position to kill a play. Bad decision making all around.

Dumb mistakes cost them sure. But coming off of the Anaheim game going into torts/bruins/canes/knights.

I mean 7/8 isn’t bad

Just keep it up against Pitt an nucks

We gifted them every goal tonight, but it's really tough to get too, too down on the lads as a whole, based on their recent perfirmances. Just come out on fire and crush the next two teams, please.

Vegas just showed why they are the best in the league and we are pretenders and can’t close out a game

They got outshot by 11, and it took an OT goal against the third string Leafs goalie to see the end result.

They earned the win, but was hardly a decisive effort
